“Supervisor Wright casts the sole opposing vote” was part of a headline in the Jan. 6 edition of the Herald.
Let me break it down or up on another level. I am going to use one word for a summation of what Mr. Wright is really saying. Feasibility.
Pay particular attention to what he said. Pay even more of what the others said. Now you want to let your mind focus more on what the others did not say and why. A feasibility study is an assessment of the practicality of a project or system. A feasibility study aims to objectively and to rationally uncover the strengths and weaknesses of an existing business or proposed venture.
Mr. Wright said we only had a problem with (Mayor Diane Delaware). That is what the county board has done for many years, dating back to 1957. (WILL EXPLAIN AT ANOTHER TIME) The county board of supervisors has had a problem with every mayor since I came to Yazoo in 1968. We lost a good recreational director in Mr. John North, who went on to another county and built a good recreational program. After he retired they thought enough of his son to hire him in the same position. Awesome.
Our first black mayor, our second black mayor, and then our third black mayor, who was different from the first two since she was a woman, all had the same problem.
I take my three grandchildren to the Wardell Leach Park to the playground to play, but I have to be close by so they won’t hurt themselves because the playground's surroundings are not safe, and some equipment is not safe. The supervisors continue to talk about how much money they put into the recreational fund, when you find the truth do not be amazed. (WILL EXPLAIN THAT AT ANOTHER TIME).
Thanks to our mayor and board of aldermen/women for choosing to fix up Campanella Park. I can continue to have a place to enjoy my grands and other children. I am asking the Yazoo County Board Of Supervisors to go fix the Wardell Leach playground area, if not I will raise the money to do it for myself. This community deserves better especially our children, both black and white.
