Dear Editor,
A lot of people have balked at the idea of Donald Trump as President. Frankly, I don't know anyone who has not been offended by something he has said or done. Both Democrats and establishment Republicans have resisted him.
However, when it comes to job creation, I have never seen anything like what is happening. President Trump immediately started meeting with industry leaders and continues to do so almost daily. He encourages, threatens tariffs, cajoles, promises relief in taxes and regulations, and commits to expand our infrastructure.
This is a brief overview, based on various Internet news articles:
Carrier Air Conditioner Manufacturing – less than 1,000 jobs
SoftBank Telecommunications – 50,000 jobs
U.S. Steel – up to 10,000 jobs industry wide
IBM – 25,000 jobs
Fiat Chrysler – 2,000 jobs and will invest $1 billion by 2020 in two of its factories
Ford – 700 jobs to start
SAP SE – 400 jobs
Amazon.com – 100,000 jobs (Many of these jobs will be in brand new fulfillment centers the online giant plans to begin building this year.)
Lockheed Martin –1,800 jobs
GM – 1,500 jobs and $1 Billion Investment
Bayer AG – $8 Billion Investment
Walmart – 10,000 retail jobs, 24,000 construction jobs
LKQ – 150 jobs and new headquarters
Kroger – up to 10,000 new jobs
Toyota – around 400 new jobs and a $600 million investment
Hyundai-Kia – $3.1 billion investment
The man has been in office less than a week!
Whatever successes, whatever failures the future holds for his presidency, one thing is clear: President Trump has raised the standard on job creation. All future presidents will be compared against him, regardless of their political party affiliation.
It is my hope that the Christians of our great nation will pray for all who are in authority that we may lead peaceful and quiet lives (2 Timothy 2:1-3).
May we pray for both our Republican and Democrat leaders. God bless President Trump and his job creation efforts. God bless America.
Respectfully,
Jill Woodliff
