Dear Editor
With the current unrest around the country in mind, I want to commend our city and county law enforcement and send a word of encouragement to Interim Police Chief Jay Winstead and Sheriff Jacob Sheriff for their leadership. I also want to thank you, as editor of The Yazoo Herald, for providing such good coverage of the work of both departments, highlighting the good work of those police officers and deputies who are on the frontlines in the city and county.
City and County Governments have the responsibility to provide a healthy environment, protect the people and provide public services. These categories include adequate housing, garbage collection, good law enforcement, safe recreational opportunities, good streets and economic development to provide jobs for its people – for the good of all the citizens.
Yazoo City and County law enforcement seems to be hitting the mark. If the other basic responsibilities are met by local and county officials, Yazoo City and Yazoo County citizens can be proud to call this place home. Working together it can happen. Not working together is not acceptable.
A Yazoo Citizen Interested In The Good For All Members Of Our Community,
