Dear Editor,
Praise God that no one was injured in the recent storm. I would like to thank all of my fellow supervisors for sending in their road crews to assist with the cleanup in District 2.
The road crews worked hard all day on short notice with no food to help open roads so people could check on family members and to allow power companies access to start the process of restoring power.
Emergency personnel were on the scene, including the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Yazoo County Dive Team, Pafford Ambulance Service, MDOT and many volunteer firefighters. Friends and family showed up in full force with bulldozers, excavators, heavy equipment and chain saws. It was amazing to witness so many people wanting and willing to help their friends and neighbors. It made me proud to be from Yazoo County. I would like to ask everyone to be patient as it’s going to take some time to clean the trees and roads that were so badly damaged.
David Berry,
District 2 Supervisor
