Dear Editor,
Thanks to the Yazoo City Board of Mayor and Aldermen, the door to having an organized recycling collection program in Yazoo City has been opened. It is now urgent that our city's residents not allow the enthusiasm for the program to dwindle.
The benefits of recycling are many and mostly well-known. Not only does recycling return to our planet many of the resources we have taken, but it provides an educational tool that will benefit our residents for generations to come. In more and more cities, recycling is becoming a way of life.
There is no reason Yazoo City cannot join the many cities that are waking up to the benefits of recycling. In addition to housing, educational and recreational opportunities, a progressively increasing number of prospective residents are attracted to cities that offer recycling services. These days, cities that refuse to recognize the value of recycling collection are mostly shunned by productive adults wishing to relocate their families.
Now is the time to contact the mayor and your ward's alderman to let them know that you understand the benefits of our city offering recycling collection of some type.
Thank you Mayor Dianne Delaware for your endorsement of recycling opportunities. Thank you Ward 1 Alderman Ron Johnson, Ward 2 Alderman Jack Varner, Ward 3 Alderman Gregory Robertson and Ward 4 Alderman Aubry Brent Jr. for the hard work it will take to make recycling collection a reality. Yazoo City awaits the opportunity to be counted among our country's progressive and growing cities.
Sincerely,
Vernon L. Sikes
