Dear Editor,
Recently, Jamie Patterson, Managing Editor of The Yazoo Herald, wrote an article calling our community to prayer in light of the recent murders and violence in our city.
Today, I am writing you to echo Jamie’s call to prayer. We have an opportunity to unite in a time of focused prayer with all citizens who desire peace in Yazoo City. This opportunity is the Annual National Day of Prayer scheduled for Thursday, May 5, at noon on the Yazoo County Courthouse grounds.
Long ago, David wrote this psalm: “Pray for peace of Jerusalem.” (Psalm 122:6). He understood that prayer and peace go hand in hand. We can pray for the peace of our city, our county, our state and our nation. But we must be intentional about it.
So I ask, “Will you and your people pray with us on May 5?” Our Yazoo City Ministerial Association is praying for no less than 500 people of faith to gather for prayer on May 5. Will you be one of them?
I hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Rev. Ken Lynch
