Dear Editor
I watched my mother raise her children through hard times, honest work and a determination that would not keep her from loving God and taking care of her children the best way she could..
Our children and elderly are pushed so far to the side that wonder sometimes if we know they are there? I look at other communities of our size and marvel at the activities they have for their seniors and children.
I hear politicians all across the nation, ,and yes right here in Yazoo City, say the same thing, “politics and religion don"t mix.” They use God as a shield to keep you from the very thing that keeps them on their toes. You see, it was God's idea to mix the two. He told His people to give unto the government what was due and render unto God what was his. Pay your tithe and taxes.– all of it is God's money , and it was designed to take care of His people, spiritually and physically.
God himself made the government and the church caretakers of His money. Those tithes and taxes are for the people and should be used for the people. Until the church becomes bold enough to stand for God and the truth, and the people become bold enough to speak the truth, no revival is going to change our town..
Until we stand up as a community both black and white, our children have no choice but to migrate to other towns, when we invested so much in them.
I take this bold stand in the name of my Savior ,and I will take any criticism thrown my way, just prove me wrong, and I will be the first to admit I was wrong.
