Dear Editor,
I am writing this letter in hopes that Alderman Sir Jonathan Rucker will read about my situation where I have been incarcerated at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility for false charges.
A Yazoo City police officers filed false charges against me for possession of a firearm by a felon and aggravated assault based on two females calling the police on me on or around March 28, 2019. They accused me of shooting at them while they were in a vehicle.
After the two females called the police on me, they never swore out any complaints against me. Neither did they ever go to the police department to file charges against me for what was claimed to have been done. Approximately three months after the females called the police on me this police officer took it upon himself, against the will of the two females involved, and filed charges against me.
After the charges were filed against me, and a hearing was held for the charges in front of the judge, the two females came to court and admitted that they lied to the police about me shooting at them, which is why they never went to the police department to swear out a complaint or file charges against me.
Also, during the hearing, the same officer admitted that he didn’t find any evidence related to the charges he filed against me.
I am not supposed to be in jail, and I am being held illegally in the Yazoo County Jail for crimes I never committed. As a righteous citizen of Yazoo City, who I trust to bring this issue to the forefront and seek remedy, as it has been “swept under the rug” by the Yazoo City justice system, I am reaching out to you Alderman Rucker in hopes that you can help remedy the issue.
Please and thank you in advance. If you have any questions or need any documents of proof to show what I am writing about is true, please feel free to contact me at any time.
