Dear Editor,
For quite a while, correctional officers enter places where most residents never want to go — the prison.
Behind those bolted entryways and bars live prisoners who violated laws and undermined society, at times brutally and with no regret. The workplace of a prison offers a one of a kind arrangement of work environment challenges and frequently gives barely any rewards.
Yazoo County correctional employees serve an indispensable job in the criminal justice system, constantly attempting to keep the public safe from risky criminals, while offering composed rehabilitative types of assistance to guarantee our prisoners' effective reemergence into our communities. Those working in this calling merit the thanks and gratefulness for their cautiousness and devotion.
Yazoo County’s correctional employees work bravely and tirelessly in hazardous conditions for the benefit of the citizens of Yazoo County. Personally speaking, we know very well the dangers and difficulties related with the work we do, yet, we appear each day to respect the responsibility we made to ensure the community we serve.
We are ESSENTIAL. With that being said…, I encourage the citizens of Yazoo County to join me in celebrating Correctional Employees Week and to share in recognizing the exemplary work correctional employees carry out day after day.
Sincerely,
Warden Lamar Shaw
