With a 41-34 victory over Cleveland Central and a 48-29 win over Greenville, the Yazoo City Lady Indians improved to 16-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
The Lady Indians are curently ranked No. 4 in the Class 5A rankings and are 2nd place in their district behind the Canton Lady Tigers.
Against Cleveland, Lakyra Bankhead pumped in a game-high 15 points , followed by E’kemii Johnson with 12 in a game the Lady Indians led from start to finish.
Torletta Johnson chipped in with seven, Sincere Fleming had three, and Jermya Porter and Akayla Hudson each scored two.
Earlier in the week, E’kemii Johnson was the high scorer for the Lady Indians against Greenville with 16 points.
Bankhead added eight, Torletta Johnson and Hudson six apiece, Makenzie Johnson and Makeelah McCullum had four apiece, and Fleming and Porter each scored two.
Yazoo City hosts district foes Gentry (Tuesday) and Canton (Friday) this week and rounds out the regular season next week with a pair of games against Holmes County Central.
The Indians travel to Holmes on January 28, and host the Jaguars January 31 on Senior Night.
