Manchester Academy senior Adam Edgar had a game for the ages Friday night against Kirk Academy, rushing for 246 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries.
He also had one reception of 52 yards for a touchdown.
Unfortunately though, his Herculean effort failed to result in a win as the Mavericks dropped a 62-29 decision to Kirk Academy.
Manchester fell to 1-5 on the season and returns home this Thursday to take on Regents.
Kirk cracked the scoreboard first Friday night and led 14-0 before Edgar put MA on the board with a 52 yard pass reception from quarterback Reeves Gooch.
Kirk scored whopping 32 points (four TD’s) in the second quarter to take a 46-7 lead at the half.
Edgar picked up where he left off in the first half scoring on runs of 70 and 62 to pull MA to within three scores at 46-21.
Kirk, however, added two more fourth quarter touchdowns and Edgar scored a final time on a 63- yard run for the game’s final margin.
Both teams ran the ball effectively all night with the Mavericks totalling 245 rushing yards and Kirk, 355 yards.
Kirk also had 66 passing yards to Manchester’s 56, giving them a total offensive production of 421 yards. Manchester had 301 yards of total offense.
Defensively, Gooch and Julian Cooper each totalled seven tackles to lead the Manchester followed by Kalem Kraft with six, and Edgar with five.
