Manchester Academy’s Anna Riley Kelly and Presley Trammell both scored a game-high 14 points as the Lady Mavericks cruised to a 15 point, 39-24 victory over the Benton Academy Lady Raiders last week.
The game started out at a slow pace as the Lady Raiders led 6-4 after one quarter of play.
Manchester, began to pick up the pace in the second quarter, however, outscoring Benton 13-5 to take a 17-11 lead into the halftime break.
MA scored seven points to BA’s six in the third frame and pulled away down the stretch with a 15-7 fourth quarter to seal the win.
Other Manchester scorers included Lexi Greenlee with five, Simmons Bradshaw with three, Angel Rae Carpenter with two and Mary Michael Druey with one.
Kaye Louise Purvis was the only Lady Raider to reach double figures with 10 points.
Gracey Manor chipped in with six, Sara Bailey Jackson had four, Ella McCain had three and Whitney Whitworth rounded out the scoring with one.
Manchester returned to action this week against Porter’s Chapel at home on Tuesday and travels to Deer Creek on Thursday.
Benton hits the road for both of their games this week, traveling to Greenville Christian on Tuesday and visiting Delta Streets Thursday.
