Jimmy Ray Hollis, 78, of Bentonia, MS, died on Monday, September 8.
He was born on February 2, 1947, to James Durwood and Eula Marie Carpenter Hollis of Yazoo City. He graduated college from Mississippi State University and served his country in the United States Army. He was an avid squirrel hunter and loved hunting with friends and family. He trained many squirrel dogs through the years. He also loved fishing, gardening, and raising animals such as goats, birds, rabbits, donkeys, and many others. He was always making everyone around him laugh and he would give you the shirt off his back. He was a talented pianist and played for several churches over the years.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Donnie Wayne Hollis.
He is survived by his nieces, Valerie Hollis Hutchinson (Chris), Jennifer Hollis Burrough; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; and a host of cousins.
A small graveside service was held on Tuesday, September 9, at 6:00 p.m. in the Carpenter Family Cemetery.
