Nearly $1 million grant to help fund job-creating project

Over $1 million is expected to be invested in a project that will create 17 new jobs in Yazoo County.

Tim Mood, director of the Yazoo County Economic Development District, presented the Yazoo County Board of Supervisors with paperwork Monday for a $989,600 grant from the Economic Development Administration.

Longtime Yazoo barber Raymond Long dies

Raymond Long was more than just a barber to many Yazooans.

Conversations with customers while they sat in his chair developed into lifelong friendships. Many of his customers came for the conversations as much as the haircuts.

Many Yazooans are mourning the loss of Mr. Long after he died Saturday at age 78.

If Charline Martin McGraw had lived to be 100 years old, I'd probably still feel like she was taken from us too soon.

That's certainly how I felt when I heard the news that she passed away at her home this week at age 79.
