he Yazoo City Indians got their revenge on the Yazoo County Panthers and avenged last week’s loss with a 49-37 victory to even the season series at 1-1.
The Lady Indians completed the season sweep of their rival with a 34-17 victory.
The Indians improved to 10-5 on the season, and the Lady Indians improved to 6-9.
The Panthers fell to 5-6 while the Lady Panthers dropped to 3-9.
In boys’ action, a trio of Indians paced the way in scoring led by Keiron Davis with 12 points and Travis Jones and Jacorion Taylor with 10 apiece.
Other scorers were Chris Gates with nine and E’ziren Collum with eight.
Yazoo County was led by Monterio Hudson with 10, followed by Kezyron Young with eight, Anthony Hudson with seven, Jamarion Bryant with five, Amari Southern with four, Ladon Watts with two and Dakwon Reasor with one.
For the Lady Indians, Lakyra Bankhead led with nine points. Jamya McCoy had six, Makeelah McCullum, Jer’Mya Porter, and Makenzie Johnson each had four, Kalin Evans had three, and Malia Mcpherson and Kimora Young both had two.
The Lady Panthers, playing without leading scorer Ladaisha Taylor, struggled mightily on the offensive end.
Ankaysha Henderson was the top scorer with five, followed by Leah Kohn and Chelsianna Brooks with three apiece.
Mashunti Demus, Nyaah Shaffer and Aziyah Scott rounded out the scoring with two points apiece.
