There are only four states in the country that don’t offer early in-person voting. Mississippi is among them.
There is momentum, however, in the state Legislature to change that.
This week, the Senate by a large bipartisan margin approved no-excuse early voting at circuit clerk’s offices for 15 days before Election Day, including the Saturday before.
There is no good reason for Mississippi to not do this. The option of early voting would accommodate those who work long hours. It would be secure. And it would reduce the demand for absentee ballots, which are frequently the means by which election fraud is orchestrated.
The House should concur and pass this bill.
