Veterans
Gun Works
No matter how good your gun is, it won’t matter if it isn’t functioning properly.
Gunsmith Dewayne Williams said it is important to have your rifle or shotgun professionally cleaned and serviced annually.
Williams, owner of Veterans Gun Works, recently opened in a new location at the former Richardson Bros. auto parts store on Highway 49 in Bentonia. Williams said it normally costs around $40 to clean a rifle and have it ready for the season.
“The turnaround is less than a week right now, but you don’t want to wait until the last minute,” Williams said. “More guns are brought in each day as we get closer to opening day. I can also mount scopes and bore sight them. Bore sighting is free for any scope purchased here.”
In addition to gunsmith services, Veterans Gun Works offers new and used guns, ammunition, hunting supplies, hunting blinds, deer and duck calls, corn and rice bran. Williams said he his prices are competitive with any size operation.
If you’re looking for a gun that isn’t in stock, Williams can order anything you want. Handguns arrive the next day, and long guns arrive with three days.
Williams is also in the process of adding a bait shop that will include live crickets and minnows, frozen crawfish and an assortment of tackle and supplies.
“It’s going to be a place where you can come get everything you need for your family fishing trip,” Williams said.
