Blayke Dendy has enjoyed success in baseball on every level he has participated in so far.
Now he has a chance to compete for one of the top Division II college programs in the nation.
Delta State University Head Baseball Coach Rodney Batts announced that Dendy has signed with the Statesmen.
“I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to play at Delta State,” Dendy said. “Delta State has always been like a second home to me. When I went on my visit there, I knew it was where I was supposed to be.”
Dendy first made a name for himself at Manchester Academy, where he earned The Yazoo Herald’s Baseball MVP award in his junior season and had an even stronger senior year.
Dendy spent one season playing for Coach Dan Rives at Mississippi Delta Community College in 2019. He was named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Second-Team All-State after hitting .355 with 30 runs scored, seven doubles, one triple, five home runs, and 23 RBI.
Dendy also had a .504 on-base percentage and was selected as the team's Best Offensive Player as a rookie.
Dendy was a five-year letterwinner and was a three-time All-District and a two-time MAIS All-State selection at Manchester Academy for Coach Kyle Wever. He was named to the MAIS All-Star game after his senior season.
Dendy was also a star football player at MA, earning a MAIS All-Star game selection and conference MVP honors as a senior. He garnered All-State laurels twice and was a three-time All-Conference recipient in football for the Mavericks. Dendy also won the Scholastic Award in baseball.
Dendy will have three years of eligibility remaining at DSU after this year’s baseball season was cut short due to COVID-19.
Dendy said he’s looking forward to getting back on the field.
“I’m ready to go and get to work. They say you’re only as good as the people you surround yourself with, and I’ve been very blessed to be surrounded by a great family, friends, coaches, and teammates. I could not have gotten to this point without all of their support, so I would like to thank them for that.”
