A third death reported to be caused by COVID-19 has been reported in Yazoo County.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported Wednesday that a resident of a long term care facility has died. Long-term care facilities like nursing homes are considered high risk locations because their residents are older or in poor health.
One of Yazoo County’s three deaths was an inmate at the federal prison with pre-existing health conditions.
Yazoo County currently has 223 reported cases of COVID-19. Eleven of those cases are reported to be in long term care facilities, 36 are federal inmates and 24 are staff members at the federal prison.
Statewide, 313 new cases and 18 deaths were reported on Wednesday.
