Lee Hopson has been named the Head Band Director of Yazoo County High School for the 2020-2021 school year. A graduate of Kossuth High School, Northeast Mississippi Community College, and The University of Mississippi, Mr. Hopson is no stranger to Mississippi bands and competitions.
Mr. Hopson still holds the record as the winningest overall high school drum major in Mississippi as he marched competitively throughout his high school years earning overall field commander at all local, regional, and state preliminaries during his junior and senior years. He continued directing as Head drum major at NEMCC. Between his high school and college career, he marched with Music City Drum Corps for two years as a part of the Hornline as well as drum major his final year with the organization. He would later return to his native Alcorn County and enrolled at the Booneville campus to complete his degree from Ole Miss.
Mr. Hopson is beyond excited to be a part of Yazoo County Schools, and he looks forward to building the band program to the elite status of 3A competitive marching and concert bands in the state of Mississippi.
