The investigation continues into the murder of a woman who was shot in the head last month in a Yazoo City neighborhood.
Capt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said investigators were dispatched to Baptist Medical Center Yazoo on Nov. 22 in regards to a gunshot wound.
The victim, Temeka Lacey, 33, was then airlifted to the University Medical Center in Jackson.
Nevels said a suspect, Fredrick McKee, was arrested at the hospital and later charged with murder.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Lacey was pronounced dead two days after the shooting on Nov. 24 at UMC. Shivers said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
Nevels said the victim and the suspect were sitting inside a parked vehicle on Wildwood Terrance when the shooting occurred.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is assisting the local police department, and the investigation continues to piece together what happened inside the vehicle.
