The Yazoo Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s April meeting was held at Ricks Memorial Library Annex.
Sue Patterson reminded the members to put two lights in their window on April 18 in memory of the 250th Anniversary of Paul Revere’s Ride in 1775.
Ava Anderson Hale gave the program on the 200th Anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s Triumphant Farewell Tour. The “National Guest” was invited by President James Monroe on behalf of Congress. Americans were thrilled to welcome the last living Major General of the Revolutionary War . At the time there were only 24 States and he toured all of them from August 15, 1824 to September 8, 1825 traveling over 6,000 miles by horse, coach and steamboat.
