A capital murder suspect has been apprehended by local police officers after a brief foot chase in Yazoo City moments ago.
Ladwell Japheth Roma Brown, 24, has been charged with capital murder in the ambush shooting death of Tujuwon Wyatt, 22, last month.
Police Chief Terry Gann said Brown was arrested on Jackson Avenue near Thirteenth Street.
“We received an anonymous tip on his whereabouts, where officers began waiting to catch him,” Gann said. “After spotting him, a brief foot chased ensued, but he was quickly apprehended.”
Gann also said Brown has several other active warrants from previous incidents, including a Circuit Court bench warrant.
Last month, Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Wyatt was pronounced dead on the scene of the shooting from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred Oct. 1 at 10:40 a.m. on East Thirteenth Street, behind St. John’s United Methodist Church.
More details will appear in the next edition of The Yazoo Herald.
