Danny Neely has been named assistant building inspector for the city of Yazoo City. It is a position he has held in the past, and he said is eager to return to his work to enforce building codes and permits within the community. He said he is also ready to tackle some of the blighted properties and junk vehicles in the city, a campaign he was very active with during his previous tenure.
Neely held a position within the city’s building department in 2012, but he resigned to take on his role as Justice Court Judge. With his new position, he also reigned form the Yazoo City Housing Authority since he could not hold both positions at the same time.
“I loved the Housing Authority and its tenants,” he said. “I enjoyed spending my time on that board to help others along the way. I am confident that the Housing Authority is in good hands. Although I am leaving, my doors are open to those I can help and pray that God be with every one of them.”
Neely said he returns to his city position with a good mindset and is ready to see what the future hold. He said he wants to make sure everyone is safe and has the proper permits to make sure the job is done in the right manner.
