Congratulations to Hillary R. Clinton on becoming the first woman nominated for president by one of the two major political parties. America’s glass ceiling has once and for all time been broken. The sky is the limit for anyone now! Of course, that’s what the media said when Barack H. Obama was nominated in 2008.
The vast majority of American voters do not follow politics closely. They occasionally listen to those they traditionally agree with to reinforce why they agree with them. “A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.”
In 2008 and 2012 voters followed media’s advice and voted for Obama because he is black and the elections were historical. This year the media is largely advising voters to vote for Hillary because she is a woman and the election is historical. Listen for the words “policy wonk” or just “wonk” as the media try to explain why Hillary is not as charismatic or personable as other candidates. Media have adopted Hillary’s characterization of Trump as “dangerous.” So, our choice in November boils down to a lot more Obama-style policies with “wonkish” Hillary, or risk complete worldwide annihilation or at least humiliating embarrassment with Trump.
Hillary is in the unenviable position of praising and supporting everything Obama has done to make America as great and wonderful as it is today while promising to change things. Trump says things in America and the rest of the world are worse than they have been since the turn of the century, and he’s going to make America great again. Real Clear Politics average of Right Track/Wrong Track polls indicate voters agree with Trump: Right Track – 22.8 percent vs. Wrong Track – 69.7 percent.
On social issues the two candidates differ. Hillary wants no limits of any kind on abortions and wants the federal government to pay for them. Trump is sort of pro-life. Hillary wants to reeducate religious people to embrace and celebrate all kinds of sexualities and to be punished severely if they don’t. Trump is sort of for religious freedom.
On Supreme Court appointments Hillary wants justices to redefine the First, Second, and Tenth Amendments before completely ignoring the Constitution and acknowledging the royal authority of the Clinton administration. Trump is sort of for conservative constitutionalists and Trump royalty.
Hillary is for amnesty for illegal aliens unless or until they become criminals or terrorists. TRUMP IS GOING TO BUILD A WALL!!!
Hillary wants free college, to expand social security, create more government jobs, and generally give constituents more free stuff. Obama doubled the national debt he inherited from his 43 predecessors to $20-trillion. Hillary says she can top that by making “those” rich folks pay more taxes and raising the minimum wage to $15/hour. Trump wants to lower business taxes and reduce regulations to bring manufacturing and jobs back to America.
So much for what the candidates want. The voters want anybody else. Both candidates are suffering from 60-something percent unfavorable ratings by voters. A Rasmussen Poll says 28-percent of voters have switched their support to another candidate since January 1. In the same poll Rasmussen found: “One-in-four unaffiliated voters (26%) remain undecided, along with 12% of Republicans and just eight percent (8%) of Democrats.”
Will undecided voters support the historical candidate or the hysterical candidate? Americans have less than 100 days to decide.
