Last week, President Trump had a great week. He had a successful summit with Kim Jong Un and laid the groundwork for a nuclear free Korea. The statistics came out on the economy, and the economy is roaring. People are going back to work, and the predictions are that the economy is going to grow by 4.8 percent in the third quarter.
Michael Horowitz, the Inspector General for the Justice Department, finally issued his report. Now we know that the "Russian Collusion" story was orchestrated by a group of high level operatives in the FBI and in the Justice Department. The "deep state," as we all know, tried to rig the presidential election in favor of "Crooked Hillary." Since this was an attempt to overturn the results of a lawful election, I am confused as to why treason charges have not been forthcoming.
But last week, the President was on a roll. His approval ratings at this time in his tenure exceeded Reagan, Bush, and Obama. The American people were beginning to warm to this President, and the Democrats could not abide this. So what did they do? They went to their play book and pulled out the old tried and true play called "the President hates children." Their initial play gained no yardage. In fact, they lost yardage because what they did was soon discovered to be a lie. They published pictures showing two young children in wire cages and claimed that this was what Trump was doing to immigrants who crossed the border. When the truth surfaced, the pictures had been taken in 2014 when Obama, the "deporter in chief," was in office.
This revelation of a lie did not stop the Democrats. They could not allow President Trump to get all of this positive publicity because the mid-term elections were coming soon, and they want to somehow take back congress. Trump had announced a zero tolerance for illegal immigrants coming into this country. Many illegal aliens coming to this country brought children with them, some of whom were their own and some that they claimed was theirs. When arrested by the border patrol, they claimed asylum. Had they claimed asylum at a "port of entry," the family would not have been separated. But since they were caught illegally sneaking into this country, the law requires that the family be separated until the asylum claim is adjudicated. Even then, the maximum that a child can be held is 20 days, and let me assure everyone that the conditions in which they are held are much better than what they have been accustomed.
But the intrepid Democrats saw an issue which they thought would bring them great credit and love. It was an emotional issue, and they seized on it. The "fake news" jumped in and help the Democrats claim that America was worse than Nazi Germany in detaining these children and separating them from their parents. John Lewis the Congressman from Georgia, calling on all of his acting skills, broke down and wept on national television. Democrats crawled out of the woodwork to denounce the President for enforcing the law. I heard ordinarily sane people denounce the President, the Border Patrol, and the Secretary of Homeland Security - even after they had explained the law in detail. I have never seen such insanity in my life, and the solution is simple. Build a wall so that people wanting to get into this country must enter at a port of entry.
But we have Democrats and other leftists who have a more sinister motive for wanting to allow anyone to cross our border and enter America. They are bent on changing America and making us a land without borders ruled by a one world government. Socialism will be the economic policy, and the middle class that has nurtured America since its founding will be no more. Americans will be at the mercy of a government that will no longer resemble what we know as a constitutional republic.
Do you remember a person named "Hanoi Jane?" This, of course, is Jane Fonda, the actress who went to North Viet Nam during the war and betrayed American prisoners who tried to slip her notes to send back home. She gave these notes to their guards, and as a result, one American prisoner of war was beaten to death. But in addition to this treason, Fonda made a statement that sticks with me to this day. She said that war was not necessary to take over a country. "All that has to happen is that one country sends its citizens into the other country in sufficient numbers to change the government." That is what is happening now, and Fonda and the Democrats are doing everything they can to make sure that every illegal alien in South America reaches our borders. This is bad for America, but good for "one world government."
