Charles Wayne Foster Sr., a devoted man of faith, loving father, faithful friend, and cherished grandfather, peacefully entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Surrounded by the love of his family, Charles answered the Lord’s call and now rejoices in His presence.
Born on September 29, 1951, to James and Hattie Mae Foster, Charles lived a life marked by humility, service, and unwavering devotion to God and family. He understood the value of hard work and the blessing of helping others. As a skilled mechanic, Charles was known throughout his family and community as someone who could always be counted on—only a phone call away, ready to lend a helping hand without hesitation, even when he was sick.
His faith was not something he merely spoke about; it was something he lived daily. Charles faithfully served as a deacon at FIRSTLOVE Fellowship Christian Church, where no task was ever too small. Whether sweeping the floors, making the coffee, or quietly serving behind the scenes, he embodied true servant leadership and reflected Christ’s love through action.
Charles was a proud and loving “PaPaw,” leaving behind eleven grandchildren by birth: Chance (Justin) Johnson, Justin Johnson, Brooke Lynn Foster, Amber Foster, Montana Shiers, Sierra Foster, Teagon Shiers, Austin Foster, Jayme Johnson, Charley Shiers, and Cassidy Johnson. He was also affectionately known as “PaPaw” to many honorary grandchildren and members of the community who felt his warmth, kindness, and steady presence.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children: Lee Ann (James) Johnson, Daniel Foster, Thomas (Elizabeth) Foster, and Brenda (Christopher) Shiers. He is also survived by his brothers, John (Jean) Foster and Thomas Foster; and his sisters, Ilva Mae Ray, Patsy (Ronnie) Chapman, Mary Jane (Jerry) Warnock, Dorothy Landrum, and Ruby Luckey.
He leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews who will cherish his loving memory and carry it forward in their lives.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Mae Foster; his infant son, Charles Wayne Foster Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Henry Landrum and Johnny Ray; and his niece, Shiela Ann Foster.
Though his earthly work is now complete, Charles Wayne Foster Sr.’s legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the faith he faithfully served. His life stands as a testimony that quiet faithfulness, consistent service, and genuine love leave an eternal impact.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Services will commence at 2:00 PM. Friends and loved ones are invited to honor and celebrate a life beautifully lived, as we gather to remember a cherished soul now resting in glory.
Pastor James M. Johnson of FIRSTLOVE Fellowship Christian Church will officiate the services.
