Benton Academy defeated Canton 8-2 Monday to earn a second straight win.
Maci Lowery delivered an incredible performance, striking out 13 batters to earn the win on the mound and going 4-for-4 from the plate as the leadoff hitter.
Brynn Blackstock hit doubles in the first and fourth innings, a single in the sixth and had a sacrifice fly in the third to help lead the Lady Raiders to victory. Blackstock drove in BA’s first score of the game with a double in the bottom of the first inning. Her sacrifice fly increased BA’s lead to 3-0 in the third inning.
BA took control of the game in the bottom of the fourth by scoring five runs on six hits.
Lowery drove in a run with a double, Leta Greco singled to add a run, Blackstock drove in two runs with a double, and Lucy McDaniel added another with a sacrifice fly.
Canton Academy got on the board in the top of the sixth inning with a two-run homer by Gates Welch, but it would be the only time the Lady Panthers were allowed to score.
Lura Greco and Leta Greco each had two hits in the win. McDaniel, Kaitlyn Becker, Annalise Turner and Perry Kate Kraft also each had a hit.
The Lady Raiders earned their first win of the season over the weekend with a 14-2 win over Jackson Academy.
Becker and Blackstock each blasted two home runs in the win.
Lowery earned the win on the mound with six strikeouts.
Benton Academy will travel to Discovery Christian on Monday.
