Two suspects wanted in connection to a Pickens armed robbery were apprehended last week thanks to the combined efforts of local law enforcement and neighboring agencies. One of the suspects also has a local connection.
Marshall Howard, of Goodman, and Ivyon Anderson, of Vaughan, have both been charged in connection with an armed robbery that took place last Monday around 8:30 a.m. at a Dollar General on Highway 51 in Pickens.
Sheriff Jeremy McCoy said Chief Joe Davis, with the Pickens Police Department, reached out to neighboring agencies for mutual aid after the two armed suspects robbed the dollar store at gunpoint with automatic rifles before fleeing into adjacent woods.
“After a few hours of searching the nearby area, Yazoo County K9 Drago alerted on a track, and these two subjects were found in a patch of woods just off of Gas Plant Road,” McCoy said. “Both suspects were still armed and were also in possession of large amounts of money. One of the weapons had been altered containing a ‘switch,’ which makes the weapon fully automatic.”
Along with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, the Yazoo City Police Department, Holmes County Sheriff’s Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Department and Attala County Sheriff’s Department also offered assistance.
