Another shooting occurred in Yazoo City last Friday with no injuries reported. But there is concern among citizens who said they heard a multitude of shots fired near a local park.
Nolan Warrington, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said the shooting occurred on Jackson Avenue around 4:30 p.m. last Friday.
“We spoke to a homeowner who said someone drove by their house and began shooting,” Warrington said. “No one was injured, and we are still investigating the matter. However, we must have communication with people. One of the problems is that no one is willing to talk with us.”
The latest incident marks the fourth random shooting within Yazoo City over the last several weeks. One shooting left an eight-year-old boy in the hospital after a stray bullet struck him in the head while he was in the backyard of his Monroe Street home. As of press time, he remained in a Jackson hospital.
Two other shootings were reported near Campanella Park with no injuries.
As of press time, no arrests have been made in connection with the shootings.
