Ann Grambling Shipley, 93, of Madison, MS, died August 21st, 2025.
Born in Bastrop, LA, on November 27th, 1931, to Prentiss Graves Grambling, Jr. and Emma Ruth Barham Grambling, Ann spent her childhood in Ruston, LA, graduating from Ruston High School.
Ann entered Louisiana Tech University in 1948, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority and graduated with a degree in education.
Ann spent her teaching career in Yazoo City, MS, teaching language arts to elementary students, then computer lab, and finally serving as elementary school librarian. She and her late husband, Frank William “Bill” Shipley, were both active members of First Presbyterian Church in Yazoo City, MS, enjoyed traveling, gardening, and time with family.
Ann and Bill were married for 52 years until his death in 2003. Ann is survived by her three daughters: Kathryn Shipley Barrows (widow of George Barrows) of Richmond, VA; Elizabeth “Queen” Shipley Gutshall (Jim) of Madison, MS; and, Amy Shipley Ward, (Mike) of Madison, MS. Ann and Bill had six grandchildren: Ann Winifred Barrows DeWitt (Ben) and William Shipley Barrows (Claire) ; Annie Swayze Granholm (Eric) and Mary Swayze Henderson (Bobby), Virginia Ward Binkley (Will) and Brennan Shipley Ward (Carley), and eight great-grandchildren.
Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and nurtured a loving family from whom she derived the most joy.
