George Alfred Carter Jr., 80, of Benton, Mississippi, passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, January 30, 2020.
George was born on January, 17, 1940, to George Alfred Carter Sr. and Mary Marie Hearn Carter, in Holly Bluff, Mississippi. Sonny loved to work and provide for his family. He was a heavy equipment operator and would share with others his desire to go back to driving his bulldozer, instead of sitting around the house being retired. He was a member of the Eden Baptist Church.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Carter, brothers, James Carter, Clay Carter, and Ronny Carter, and his sister Karen Moody. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Carter, son, George Alfred Carter III of Starkville, daughter, Mary Willhite of Yazoo City, his stepchildren, whom he loved as his own, Jackie Wheeler, Yazoo City, Carrie Moore of Richland, Mary Fuller of Yazoo City, Ann Martin of Greenville, Geraldine Soto of Greenville, and Jane Campice of Louisiana plus 4 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
