This year’s Battle of Yazoo was expected to be a competitive matchup between equally matched teams, but Yazoo County had other plans.
Manchester Academy is now 3-0 after defeating North Sunflower Academy 49-8 on Friday.  The Mavericks gained 262 total yards on offense in the game, with 163 yards rushing and 99 yards passing.

Mabel Jordan

Mabel Harris Norman Jordan was born on May 23, 1926 in Yazoo City. She was the daughter of Thomas Harvey Norman and Juanita Harris Norman. She died at home on July 23, 2019 at age 93 with family by her side.





Penelope Jackson

Penelope S. Jackson, 77, of Yazoo City passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at the Martha Coker Green Houses. Mrs. Jackson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Yazoo City.She was a longtime emergency room nurse at King's Daughters Hospital and Martha Coker.



James Paul Luby

James Paul Luby, 74, of Benton passed away at his brother’s home on Wednesday, July 17, 2019.

Mr. Luby was a retired English teacher who earned the Mississippi Teacher of the Year Award in 1990.
