After dropping their season opener to Holmes County Central, Yazoo City High School has now rattled off three straight wins, including Friday night’s 36-13 win over Crystal Springs, to push their overall record to 3-1.

The Mavericks of Manchester Academy continued their season-opening win streak on Friday night with a 56-20 win over Kemper Academy.

The win brought their overall record to 4-0.

Around 50 competitors from several states competed in the Nita Scott Washington Memorial Scrabble Tournament over the weekend at the Hampton Inn in Yazoo City.

 The members of two United Methodist churches have a new pastor, and he is bringing a unique kind of ministry with him.

Kathy Hood, 63, of Yazoo City passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Merit Central Medical Center in Jackson.

She was a retired bookkeeper with Davis Auto Electric and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.









Garry Roark

Pit Master Garry Bon Roark, 66 of Yazoo City passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

Raised and baptized a Baptist he was a confirmed Episcopalian.
