If the city stops providing fire protection to residents of Yazoo County on June 1, the county will stop collecting the city’s taxes at that time as well.
Police officer fired after fight with brother

A Yazoo City police officer was fired last week after a family dispute turned violent with shots being fired.
The termination of Sgt. Mike Jones was approved by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen last Friday during a special call meeting.

Yazoo men charged in Madison armed robbery

Two Yazoo City men were arrested this week in connection with a Madison armed robbery and kidnapping case.
George Giles, 17, was charged with armed robbery and kidnapping. Ezzard McRae, 21, was charged with accessory to the fact to armed robbery.

Fire Chief to retire April 30
