After dropping their season opener to Holmes County Central, Yazoo City High School has now rattled off three straight wins, including Friday night’s 36-13 win over Crystal Springs, to push their overall record to 3-1.

The Mavericks of Manchester Academy continued their season-opening win streak on Friday night with a 56-20 win over Kemper Academy.

The win brought their overall record to 4-0.

Around 50 competitors from several states competed in the Nita Scott Washington Memorial Scrabble Tournament over the weekend at the Hampton Inn in Yazoo City.

 The members of two United Methodist churches have a new pastor, and he is bringing a unique kind of ministry with him.

Defense was the name of the game in the Battle of Yazoo, and it ended up being a special teams play that allowed Yazoo City to break Yazoo County’s winning streak in this backyard rivalry matchup.

Walter Anderson Collins

Mr. Walter Anderson “W.A.” Collins, 78, formerly of West, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at West Cemetery. Rev. Gene Richardson will officiate.








Bill Brown

Willie F. (Bill) Brown made his transition to eternal life, Wednesday, July 18, peacefully at home surrounded by his wife Martha.  He was born, August 13, 1942, the fourteenth child of John Reaver and Rosie Brown.
