A partnership has developed among the Yazoo County School District and the community it serves during the tenure of Dr. Ken Barron.

And it’s a partnership meant to be.

When Bryan Jones first entered into the banking business, he admits that he was nervous that he didn’t know what he was doing.

It has been two years since Kiristi Mills took the helm of the Yazoo County Chamber of Commerce, and she remains committed to moving Yazoo forward.

Thanks to an outpouring of community support, the local swimming pool is anticipated to open within the next week.

Things are looking bright for Yazoo County with many programs, funding and improvements heading its way thanks to the diligence of county leaders.





Lois W. Pierce

Lois W. Pierce, 86, of Benton, died Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

She was a retired Supervisor at Henson-Kippernick in Lexington and a member of Crossroads Primitive Baptist Church.









Willie Mae Edmonds

Willie Mae Edmonds, 82, of Benton, died at her son's residence in Yazoo County on Saturday June 1, 2019.

She was a Cook with Clancy's Restaurant and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
