Benton Academy hosts Oak Hill tonight after winning the season opener against Porter's Chapel.
It looked like Benton Academy might be in for a fight when Porter’s Chapel scored on their first offensive play, but things changed very quickly after that.
The Raiders went on to win the season opener 46-12.
Caden Stevens answered the opening score with a big kickoff return followed by a first down run.
Quarterback JB Middleton then scored on a one-yard keeper and Ben Boggan added the PAT kick for a 7-6 lead with 7:45 to go in the first quarter.
Stevens later recovered a fumble to bring the offense back on the field, and Middleton connected with Landon Lowery for a 38-yard touchdown pass.
The Raiders defense continued to hold of Porter’s Chapel as Austin Moore recovered a fumble and Boggan got an interception.
Stevens scored on a 12-yard carry to give the Raiders a 20-6 lead with 8:07 to go before halftime.
Stevens later had a 30-yard carry that set up Middleton’s second rushing touchdown of the night.
In the third quarter Middleton connected with Lowery for another touchdown. This time it was a 45-yard strike.
Rye Yeates scored a 21-yard touchdown to give the Raiders a 40-6 lead with 4:23 left in the third quarter.
