Manchester Academy is now 3-0 after defeating North Sunflower Academy 49-8 on Friday. The Mavericks gained 262 total yards on offense in the game, with 163 yards rushing and 99 yards passing.
Once again the Manchester boys steamrolled their opponent, scoring touchdown after touchdown during the game.
Greyson Winstead stood out in this game with 4 carries for 67 yards and scored 2 touchdowns for the Mavericks. Michael Williams had 2 carries for 21 yards with one touchdown. Jon Riley Poe had one carry for 40 yards and also scored 2 touchdowns for the Mavericks. Parks Poe also had one carry, ran 20 yards and scored one touchdown for Manchester as well. Dylan Dendy had one carry for 25 yards and also scored a touchdown.
Other rushing stats for the Mavericks include Matt Carroll with one carry for 3 yards, Upton Hitt with one carry and 4 yards, and State Greenlee with 5 carries and a total of 13 yards.
Receiving for the Mavericks in this game were Ty Kilpatrick with one catch and 35 yards, and Parks Poe with one catch, 60 yards, and one touchdown.
Upton Hitt had a great passing game, throwing 2-2 for 99 yards as quarterback for the Mavericks.
On defense Tyler Johnson stood out with 4 tackles and one fumble recovery. Connor Stevens and Luke Ragland each had 4 tackles in the game as well, while Rashaad Bass had 3. Cade Potter and Hayes Kyle also had 2 tackles each on defense for the Mavericks.
"We were proud of our team and the way that they came out and played," said Coach Bryan Dendy. "They understand that we will get everyone's best shot every week, so you have to be focused."
Dendy said that after 2 weeks on the road, the Mavericks are happy to get back to Buster Crawford stadium for this week's home game against Kemper Academy.
"We will face a physical football team in Kemper, who put up 58 points this past week, so we have to have a great week of practice and be focused," he said.
