Another one bites the dust

By JASON PATTERSON,

Another week, another big win.

That has become a familiar story for Manchester Academy this football season, and there were no changes to the script on Friday night as the Mavericks defeated Delta Streets 52-8.

Michael Williams scored a 60-yard touchdown on the second play of Manchester’s first possession.

It was a sign of things to come as Williams racked up 157 yards and three touchdowns on just six carries.

Parks Poe added a 51-yard touchdown run to give the Mavericks a 14-0 lead with 4:18 to go in the first quarter. He finished the night with three carries for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Jon Riley Poe added a touchdown for a 21-0 lead with 8:37 to go in the second quarter. He finished the night with three carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns and one reception for eight yards.

Quarterback Upton Hitt completed 5-of-7 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown.

Blake Coghlan scored a 43-yard receiving touchdown.

Dylan Dendy had two carries for nine yards.

Ty Kilpatrick had one catch 33 Yards

This week Manchester (7-0) travels to Marks to face Delta Academy (3-5).

Delta Academy enters the contest hungry for a win. The Raiders lost to Marvell 54-14 last week and suffered a 50-0 shutout to Humphreys Academy the previous week.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
