Yazoo City residents should not see an increase in their city taxes within the proposed budget for the next fiscal year.
For the next fiscal year, the city of Yazoo City will not increase its millage. The millage rate will remain at 85.55 mills for the next fiscal year.
For the next fiscal year, the proposed budget has a total projected revenue of $6,576,346. Of that amount, 52.94 percent, or $3,481,846 is proposed to be financed through ad valorem taxes.
A public hearing on the city’s proposed budget will be held on Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall board room. Any citizen of Yazoo City is invited to attend the public meeting and will be allowed to speak before the Board of Mayor and Aldermen take any vote on the proposed budget.
The city’s last tax increase came last year when the board increased the millage rate by 4.21 mills. Last year, the total millage rate for the city of Yazoo City increased from 82.37 mills to 85.55 mills.
The city council will adopt its proposed budget and proposed tax levies for the next fiscal year on Sept. 3, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall board room.
