Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) crews are continuing to divert traffic around a closed portion of U.S. Highway 49 in Yazoo County.
The southbound lanes became unsafe for travel following a land slide that resulted in roadway damage following heavy rainfall last month.
This week, crews are working to build crossover lanes in an effort to place traffic head-to-head in the northbound lanes as soon as possible. Directional signage is in place leading up to the closure located approximately 3.5 miles south of Yazoo City, directing passenger vehicle traffic around the closure via Highway 3.
Motorists are reminded to be on high alert for roadside workers.
