Senators Joseph Thomas Sr. and Briggs Hopson were recently recognized for their contributions to Yazoo County, which includes about $1.5 million dollars in funds for local projects.
The two senators were presented with two shotguns, which were purchased with private funds, from the Yazoo County Economic Development District during the Yazoo County Board of Supervisors meeting Monday morning.
Supervisor Cobie Collins thanked both Thomas and Hopson for their hard work in securing $700,000 for the local industrial park and $750,000 for a Carter Road project. He added that the two senators continue their efforts on a project surrounding Old Benton Road.
“We go to work tomorrow, and I am excited about 2021,” Thomas said.
