A joint investigation by the Yazoo Police Department and a local business led to the arrest of a dollar store employee stealing thousands of dollars.
Cierra Smith was charged with embezzlement after she allegedly stole about $3,000 worth of goods from Family Dollar, where she was employed.
“This was an internal investigation between our investigators and the Family Dollar Loss Prevention team that lasted from November of 2019 to now,” said Jay Winstead, interim police chief. “This was a great example of a joint effort in a lengthy investigation that led to an arrest.”
In other police news, Candace Parks was also charged with credit card fraud.
“Sgt. Joseph Pinkston arrested Parks on May 16 after it was discovered that she was using an individual’s debit card to make purchases on March 26,” Winstead said.
