FLO ANN LANDRUM

Flo Ann Landrum, 79, of Bentonia died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at Baptist Medical Center.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Scotland Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Allen and Rev. Earl Reyer officiating. Burial will follow at Scotland Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. at Scotland Baptist Church prior to the funeral.
Mrs. Landrum was born Nov. 24, 1930 in Yazoo County to Griffin and Effie Bradshaw Irwin. She was a homemaker and a member of Scotland Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Keith Landrum and Donnye Landrum.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Landrum of Bentonia; a daughter Jackie James (Walt) of Flora; a son, Mark Landrum of Bentonia; two sisters, Gwynne Creel of Bentonia and Penny Scroggins (Nelson) of Natchez; three brothers, Jon “Bud” Irwin of Hiawasee, Ga., Jerry Irwin of Bentonia and Rudy Irwin of Bentonia.

TRAVIS SAXTON

Travis H. Saxton, 87, of Gretna, La. died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.
Mr. Saxton was born in Bentonia to the late Claiborne and Josephine Wooten Saxton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Pitre Saxton; a daughter, Billie Louise Leblanc; brother, C.B. Saxton; and a sister, Nola Hyde.
Survivors include his longtime companion Gladys Catyb; children Carolyn (Jakie) Batt, Judy (Al) Boquet and Brenda (Huey) Roberts; sister, Dorothy Ashley of Yazoo City; brothers, Claiborne Saxton of Yazoo City and Billy Saxton of Gulfport; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

CARMEN THURMAN

Carmen Stevens Thurman, 71, of Bentonia died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services were Friday at Ogden Baptist Church with Rev. George Butler and Rev. Skipper Maxwell officiating. Burial followed at Ogden Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thurman was born Nov. 27, 1938 in Bentonia to Robert William Stevens and Annie Ree Irwin Stevens. She was a star basketball player at Satartia High School and later lived in Toledo, Ohio, where she worked at Owens-Illinois for several years before returning to Bentonia. She was a retired secretary for the Mississippi School for the Blind and a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Thomas Owen Stevens, James Horace Stevens, Carl Stevens, Bobbie Stevens, Harvey Stevens, Thomas William Stevens and Resin D. Stevens; and sisters, Robby Stevens Smith, Ida Lois Stevens Pell, Annie Stevens Williams and Margaret Maude Stevens Keebler.
Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Frank Thurman of Bentonia; two sons, Michael Germain Sr. of Bentonia and David Germain of Mendenhall; a brother, Robert Stevens of Bentonia; two sisters, Rosella McMurray and Kanita Ashley of Bentonia; and two grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Billy Benson, Bentley Robinett, R.D. Stevens Jr., Larry Pell, Barney Scroggins Jr. and Paul Stevens.
