BILLY BROWN Sr.
Billy F. Brown Sr., 80, died Nov. 2, 2012 at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.
Funeral services were Monday at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Bryant and Rev. Lewis Kalil officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 10, 1932 in Belzoni to  the late Tom and Rita Ferguson Brown. He was a retired salesman for Sears and a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne M. Brown; and a son, Billy F. Brown Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Childress (Sammy) of Vicksburg; a brother, Lee Brown of Vicksburg; two sisters, Janet Farrish of Tunica and Mary Thom Trelor of Greenville; three grandchildren, Kayla Childress, Courtney Brown and Callie Brown; and a daughter-in-law, Teresa Brown.
Serving as pallbearers were Jack Spencer, Bill Reeves, Herman Wooten, Kennith Helton, Mark Romine and Jimmy Sandling.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Davis, Kenneth Buckley, Benton Hayman, Clinton Hayman, Dr. Paul Pierce III, Jayne Wilson and Sarah Irby.

GENE JOHNSTON
David Eugene “Gene” Johnston Sr., 74, died Nov. 1, 2012 at home.
Funeral services were Saturday at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Jennings officiating. Burial followed at Benton Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnston was born Sept. 12, 1938 in Yazoo County to the late William Henry Johnston and Myra Dales Jones Johnston. He was a truck driver and a member of Batesville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Johnston of Batesville; two daughters, Carol Stephens of Pontotoc and Diane Presley of Yazoo City; two sons, William Johnston of Yazoo City and David Johnston Jr. of Dallas, Texas; an adopted daughter, Brittany Adler of Batesville; brother, Aubrey Johnston of Yazoo City; sister, Linda Wright of Benton; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Travis Ward, B.J. Johnston, Bryan Blackwell, Joey Johnston, Charles Presley and William Johnston.

JOHNNY VAUGHNS

John L. “Johnny” Vaughns, 83, died Oct. 20. 2012.
Funeral services were Saturday at Great St. Anderson Church of God in Christ in Durant with Rev. Melvin Stokes officiating.
Mr. Vaughns was born June 18, 1952 to the late Tommy “Plooma” Vaughns and Surilla Scott Vaughns. He was employed by the City of Pickens until his health failed and a member of Life Changing Ministries.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean “Nina” Brown Vaughns; four brothers, L.V. Vaughns, Calvin “Buddy” Vaughns, LeAndra Vaughns and Amos Vaughns; and a sister, Cybel Scott Eull.
Survivors include his fiancee, Ethelrine Hogsert of Goodman; seven children, Kimberly Spates of Waterloo, Iowa, Sharon Martin of Thomastown, Sheila Vaughns of Jackson, Timothy Vaughns (Monique) of Goodman, Thomas Earl Vaughns (Shawonda) of Durant and Kendrick Vaughns (Crystal) of Lexington; sisters, Mary Turnage of Chicago, Annie-Fred Vaughns of Memphis, Tenn., Emma Jane Redmond of Memphis, Tenn. and Ellarine Williams of Chicago; 11 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

LINDA BOWLIN
Linda G. Bowlin, 65, of Louise, died Oct. 29, 2012 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Thursday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Ingram officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Bowlin was born Sept. 8, 1947 in Yazoo County to Gilbert and Louise Steed Garner. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Louise.
Survivors include her husband, George “Rock” Bowlin of Louise; a son, Danny Bowlin of Runaway Bay, Texas; two sisters, Deborah Hubbard of Holly Bluff and Jean Turner of Anguilla; three grandsons and Jaz and Mannie.
Serving as pallbearers were Todd Hyde, Bo Bowlin, Billy Hubbard, Brooks Porter, Hunter Turner, Tommy Hyde, Ramey Hubbard, Jeffery Porter and T. Turner.

JEFFERY CAMPBELL

Jeffery Campbell, 55, died Oct. 28, 2012 at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, La.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Caleb Clark officiating.
Mr. Campbell was born Feb. 7, 1957 in Yazoo City to Archibald Bland Campbell and Claire Moore Campbell. He was a senior technician for Terracon.
Jeff was beloved husband and best friend of Tess Campbell and a loving father.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Campbell of Yazoo City; two daughters, Maggie Campbell of Brandon and Jordan Deron of Westland, Mich.; a son, Christopher Deron, of Westland, Mich.; a sister, Carol Ditosti of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Bland Campbell of Virginia; and five grandchildren.

MILDRED SWAYZE

Mildred M. Swayze, 91, of Benton died Oct. 29, 2012 at home.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Will Wilkerson officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Swayze was born Sept. 17, 1921 in Yazoo County to Melvin and Lida Fisher Dixon. She was a postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Benton United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip E. Swayze Sr.
Survivors include her son, Phillip E. Swayze Jr. of Thornton; a daughter, Sandra Swayze of Benton; and two grandchildren, Annie Swayze of Madison and Mary Swayze of Hattiesburg.

EUGENE BURRELL
Eugene Douglas Burrell, 80, died Oct. 25, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Saturday at Southern Funeral Home in Durant with Rev. Charlie McBride and Rev. Daniel Blaylock officiating. Burial followed at Seneasha Cemetery in Goodman.
Mr. Burrell was born March 3, 1932 in Attala County to Edgar Eugene Burrell and Bertha Lucille Simpson Burrell. He was a machine operator and a member of Bowlin Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Burrell and Nell Ketchum; and a brother, Bobby Dell Burrell.
Survivors include his wife, Louria Burrell of Durant; a son, Dennie Reid Burrell (Debrah) of Bentonia; daughters, Joy Lynette Warren (Randall) of Warren Robins, Ga., Vickie Lynn Lancaster (David) of Bentonia and Hope Denise Nelson (David) of Yazoo City; stepsons, Leonard Keith (Ann) of Sallis and Calvin Keith of Jackson; stepdaughters, Patsy Blaylock (William) of Kosciusko, Barbara Shelton of Kosciusko, Kathy King (Cecil) of Durant and Sue Thornton (Charles) of Durant; brothers, Jerry Burrell of Houston, Texas, Jimmy Burrell of Montgomery, Texas, Charles Burrell of New Caney, Texas and Glen Burrell of Porter, Texas; sisters, Sidney Ketchum of Benton and Peggy Shirley of Conroe, Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren.

ROBERT CLARK

Robert Ennis Clark, 79, died Oct. 19, 2012.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. Matthew Church of God in Christ with Rev. John H. Scott Sr. officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Gardens under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Clark was born Dec. 3, 1932 in Dekalb to Jessie and Alberta Johnson Clark. He was a truck driver for many years and a member of St. Matthew Church of God in Christ.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Otts.
Survivors include his wife, Bettie Clark; a son, Howard Clark; stepchildren, Nanette, Charles, Willie, Lewis, Dorothy, Melvin, Eddie, Selma, Debra, Brenda, Anita, Barbara, Jimmy Lee, Theodis, Joe, Lonnda, Lashell, Danis, Bennie and Lucy; two sisters, Mary Baylor of Meridian and Racheal Clark of Detroit; four brothers, Ellis Clark of Meridian and Jessie and Johnnie Clark of Dekalb, Abraham Clark of Detroit; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert Davis, Terrell Williams, Jeffery Davis, Howard Clark, Jimmy Freeman and Bennie Steward.

JAMES REDMOND
James Redmond, 83, died Oct. 20, 2012.
Funeral services were Saturday at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Bentonia with Rev. Robert West Sr. officiating.
Mr. Redmond was born Oct. 3, 1929 in Yazoo County to William Redmond and Nancy Younger. He lived in Chicago for 22 years, where he worked for Magic Kiss Carpet Kleaners. In 1962 he moved his family to Hopkins Park, Ill. and worked as a foreman for Argo Ham. He later returned to Mississippi and married Emma Lee Haymer, who preceded him in death after 31 years of marriage. He was a member of Bell Chapel Church.
Survivors are his wife, Annie Redmond; three sons, Johnnie Lee Redmond, James Redmond Jr. (Janie) and Willie James Redmond (Vicky); daughters, Ernestine Woods, Mary D. Douglas (Joe), Cheryl Redmond, Maxine Redmond and Betty Jean Redmond; 22 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Robert Smith, Lenard Bassett, Timothy Wade, Nathaniel Evans, John Davis, Herman Green and Rodrick Knight.

DORIS ROACH
Dorris Ann Roach, 80, died Oct. 25, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Monday at Melrose Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Holland and Rev. Wayne Long officiating. Burial followed at Melrose Cemetery under the direction of Strickland-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roach was born July 14, 1932 in Medina, Texas to Buster and Mary Lou Luna Gardner. She was a homemaker and a member of Melrose Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Randall Roach; and her parents, Buster Gardner and Mary Lou Gardner Bartow.
Survivors include her husband, John William Roach of Benton; a daughter, Lou Ann Kinnard (Rick) of Benton; sons, James Dennis Roach (Maria) of Yazoo City and William Roy Roach (Lesa) of Flowood; a sister, Mary Virginia “Jenny” McCommon; sisters-in-law, Bessie Marie Rutherford of Horizon City, Texas and Pamela Clara Bell of Atoka, Texas; brother-in-law, James Harold (Vonda); five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

WALTER CLARK
Walter L. Clark, 71, died Oct. 16, 2012.
Funeral services were Wednesday at Century Funeral Home.
Mr. Clark was born Dec. 26, 1940 in Yazoo City to Osborn and Bernada Clark. He attended Yazoo Training School.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Osborn “Ike” Clark and two sisters, Annie Thompson and Mary Bullock.
Survivors include a son, Darius Walter Clark of Chicago; a daughter, Sade Mason of Chicago; two brothers, Henry L. Clark and Charlie Clark; and a host of other relatives and friends.

PATSY SPIARS
Patsy H. Spiars, 71, died Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home with Father Lincoln Dall and Bill McGraw officiating. Burial followed at the Concord Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Spiars was born March 9, 1941 in Yazoo County to William and Anna Sudbeck Hood. She was an office manager for Yazoo Insurance and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, David Spiars; a sister, Martha Ann King; and a grandson, Jaymie Shipp.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick “Pete” Spiars of Yazoo City; two daughters, Cindy Spiars of Yazoo City and Kim Eakin of Yazoo City; a sister, Betty Rickles of Baton Rouge, La.; and two brothers, William H. Hood of West Point and David J. Hood of Palm Springs, Calif.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Erickson, Mike McGraw, Charles Crawford, Kirk Erickson, Neal McGraw and Tim Trammell.

ROBERT BROWN
Robert Brown, 90, died Oct. 10, 2012 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were Friday at Mt. Vernon M.B. Church with Rev. Joe Freeman officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was born Sept. 10, 1922. He attended Yazoo City public schools before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in World War II. After the war he married Marjorie Taylor. Later in life he married Emma Jean Rucker.
Survivors include his wife, Emma J. Brown; four daughters, Dawn Marie Brown of Columbus, Mo., Lawanda E. Rucker Brown of Memphis, Tenn., Roshawanda Evans of Jackson and Sonja Evans of Chicago; a son, Terrance S. Rucker; stepdaughter, Bridgette Scott; stepson, Seonn Rucker; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Darien McCoy, Rowaland Hattchet, Kenneth Kight, Ricardo Mitchell, Fred Jones and Carl Jeffery Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Seonn Rucker and Terrance S. Rucker Brown.

SUSIE HUTTO

Susie Blair Hutto, 96, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kin Ellis and Rev. Jimmy Cresswell officiating. Burial followed at Rocky Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Hutto was born Feb. 3, 1916 in Edon to William and Lula Everette Wilson. She was an assistant dietician and a member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Hutto.
Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Reynolds Brantley of Pensacola, Fla. and Nancy Bishop of Raymond; two sons, Tommy Hutto of Vicksburg and Henry Hutto of Empire, La.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Brett Bishop, Mark Bishop, Tracy Reynolds, Blake Bishop, Kelly Bishop and Randy Reynolds.

KYLIE JENNINGS
Kylie Revea Jennings, 1, died Oct. 13, 2012 at Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
Funeral services were Oct. 18 at Liverpool Cemetery with Rev. John Slade officiating. Burial followed under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Kylie was born Oct. 1, 2011 in Madison County to Colt and Nancy Love Jennings.
Survivors include her parents, Colt and Nancy Jennings; two brothers, Phillip Harber and Christopher Jennings; a sister, Isabella Jennings; paternal grandparents, Tony Jennings of Yazoo City and Sarah Williams of Yazoo City; maternal grandparents Billy and Virginia Love of Yazoo City; paternal great-grandparents Paul and Joyce Dozier and great-grandmother, Margie Williams.

CHRISTA ROBERTS
Christa Martha Roberts, 77, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. George Butler officiating.
Mrs. Roberts was born July 21, 1935 in Wabern, Germany to Fredrick and Elfriebe Schomberg Pfankuche. She was a nutritionist for Head Start and a member of Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robbie Roberts of Yazoo City; daughter, Tina Roberts Arlington of Hattiesburg; two sons, Mark Roberts and Matt Roberts, both of Yazoo City; two sisters, Martha Herrmann and Friedel Dippel, both of Germany; and 10 grandchildren.

NEDA TUCKER

Neda K. Tucker, 97, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at home.
Visitation is Friday from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Tucker was born Sept. 16, 1915 to Joseph C. and Lula Mae Callahan Kinard. She was a retired preschool teacher and a longtime member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Tucker Jr.
Survivors include a son, William Clay Tucker (Edie) of Ballground, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Olivia Tucker, of Ballground, Ga.
