Phyllis Annette Beard, 52, of Benton, died Feb. 11, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services were Feb. 14 at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Midway Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Beard was born Aug. 9, 1960 in Madison County to Charles and Dorothy McCool Saxton. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, James M. Morgan of Benton; two daughters, Brooke Nicole Hawthorned of Brandon and Toni Hardy of Brandon; two sisters, Jennifer Gaylord of Macon and Samantha Blalock of Meridian; a brother, John Moss of Durant; and five grandchildren, Nathaniel Warrell, Carlee Warrell, Bud Warrell, Sean Gill and Joshua Langston.

BETTY CLARK
Betty June Clark, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services were Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Cemetery in Petal under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clark was born May 9, 1926 in Petal to Paul Wilburn Morris and Genevia Virginia Copeland Morris. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Clark.
Survivors include a son, Robert David Clark of Brandon; two daughters, Sharon Clark Byrd of Ridgeland and Martha Clark Mitchell of Brandon; a sister, Rosemary Bryant of Shreveport, La.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Eddie Lee Green, 72, died February 12, 2013.

MARGARET MAGEE
Margaret A. Magee, 60, died Feb. 17, 2013 at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Mrs. Magee was born Dec. 24, 1952 to Jack Lee Glascoe and Margaret Francis Cessna Glascoe. She was a homemaker.

JESSE McGRUDER
Jesse James McGruder, 73, died Feb. 11, 2013.
Funeral services were Saturday at Union Second M.B. Church in River Rouge, Mich. with Rev. Kenneth L. Brown officiating. Burial followed at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.
Mr. McGruder was born Oct. 11, 1939 in Yazoo City to Houston and Emdell McGruder. He was the sixth of 14 children. He graduated from Yazoo City Training School in 1961. He moved to Detroit in 1968 and worked with Chrysler Corporation and General Dynamics until he retired in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Mae Bryant McGruder; three sons, Jesse Jr., Kenneth (Octavia) and Dwayne; five daughters, Beverly (Thomas), Carolyn, Sarah, Pearlie and Regina; five brothers, Thomas Sr., Malachi, Nathaniel, Alfonzo and Ike (Linda); four sisters, Johnny B. (William), Patricia Ann, Jo Juanita and Annie Francis; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Zeria Mae Woods Taylor,

Mrs. Taylor was born Jan. 13, 1947 in Vaiden to O.Z. and Pauline Woods. After graduating from McNair High in Belzoni, she moved to Yazoo City in 1966. She was employed for many years with Delta Pride Catfish in Belzoni and Yazoo Industrial in Yazoo City until her husband’s health failed and she became his caregiver. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd D. Taylor.
Survivors include her son Willie Jones (Michele) of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Joyce Ann Rankin (Frank) of Upland, Calif., Mable Grayson (Frank) of Dolton, Ill. an Clara Roger of Chicago; five brothers, Willie Woods (Katherine) of Spring Lake, N.C., Cornelius Woods (Sharon) of Chicago, Clyde Woods (Lola) of Kalamazoo, Mich., Eddie Woods (Corine) of Chicago and Roy Woods of Isola; stepdaughters, Beulah Jefferson, Carrie Felton (Robert) and Betty Taylor, all of Yazoo City; stepsons, J.C. KIMBERLY THOMAS
Kimberly Plechette Thomas, 39, died Feb. 11, 2013 at University Medical Center in Jackson.

Ms. Thomas was born March 19, 1973 in Vicksburg to Herbert Moten and Mary Alice Thomas. She was a member of Community M.B. Church, where she served as pianist until her health failed.
Survivors include a daughter, Kiara Thomas; son, Demarcus Thomas; mother Mary Alice Thomas, sister, Angela Geralds, all of Yazoo City; two brothers, Henry Geralds (Mikita) of Ridgeland, Darnell Geralds (Tasha) of Jackson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

THELMA ADAMS
Thelma S. Adams, 85, of Yazoo City died on February 11, 2013 at her home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. David Bryant and Rev. Hal Selby officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Adams was born May 26, 1927 in Vicksburg to Elbert and Ruby Selby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Wyllodeene Herrin; and her grandson, Matthew Stack.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Adams Sr.; son, Paul Adams Jr. (JoAnn) of Yazoo City; two daughters, Karen Adams of Midland, Texas, and Regina Helm (Jay) of Tucson, Ariz.; sister, Ruby Nell Potter of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

THOMAS ARINDER
Thomas Richard Arinder, 70, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services were Thursday at Victory Baptist Church. Burial followed at Vaiden Cemetery in Vaiden.
Mr. Arinder was born Oct. 29, 1942 in Winona to Thomas Vester “Shorty” Arinder and Eleanor “Nonnee” Wright Arender Miles. After graduating from Vaiden High School in 1960 he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture and Economics from Mississippi State University. He earned his Master’s of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1979.
He served as pastor of Eastside Baptist Church in Belzoni, Bassfield Baptist Church in Bassfield, Immanuel Baptist Church in Cleveland, Concord Baptist Church in Yazoo City and Victory Baptist Church in Bassfield. He devoted over 37 years to sharing the love of Christ with others. He was also an avid golfer. He loved competing with the Delta Senior Golfers, and felt it gave him a unique opportunity to share his faith.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Harman Arinder of Hattiesburg; sons, Tim Arinder (Gretta) of Yazoo City and Tom Arinder of Hattiesburg; daughter, Denise White (Chad) of Hattisburg; and grandchildren, Taylor and Alayna Arinder of Yazoo City and Avery White and Ella White of Hattiesburg.

Charline Elizabeth Phillips Bardwell, 71, of Brandon died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon.

Barney Wayne Benson Jr., 46, of Yazoo City, died on Feb. 5, 2013 in Humphreys County.

Mr. Benson was born on Jan. 30, 1967 in Jackson to Barney Wayne and Linda Benson.
He was a rigger supervisor for Longnecker Offshore Drilling Company.
He was preceded in death by his father, Barney Wayne Benson Sr.

SHAFARIA EALEY
Shafaria Denise Ealey, 26, died on Feb. 5, 2013 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.    
Funeral services were held Saturday at Union Hill Memorial Baptist Church in Flora with Rev. Roosevelt Barrett officiating. Burial followed at Chapel Church Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer & Collins Funeral Home.
Shafaria was born on Jan. 30, 1986 to Shelia Ealey and James Green in Hinds County.  
Shafaria confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Charles T. Simmons. There she helped choreograph praise dances for the youth and was a former member of the youth choir.  
She was a 2004 honor graduate of Madison Central High School and graduated from Hinds Community College with an Associates of Arts in 2008. She received her associates degree in Applied Science from Hinds Community College in 2009.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Henry and Bessie Green; maternal grandmother, Nannie B. Odom-Ealey; and maternal grandparents, Elonzo and Mary Ealey.
Survivors include her parents, Shelia N. Ealey of Flora, and James Green of Ridgeland; grandfather, Calvin Ealey of Flora; two sisters, Shania Ealey of Flora and Tunisha Littleton of Jackson; four brothers, Jerald, Jacarre, and Joshua Ealey all of Flora, and Kanijah (KJ) Green of Vaughan; eight aunts; ten uncles; and a host of family and friends.

LINDA GOODWIN
Linda Jean Downs Goodwin, 72, died Feb. 9, 2013 at home under the loving care of her family.

Linda was born on June 8, 1940 in Matthews, Mo. to the late L.A. (Jack) and Helen Downs and has lived in Holly Bluff for the past 44 years.
Linda was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and singing at First Pentecostal Church in Vicksburg, where she was a faithful member.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Goodwin of Holly Bluff; three daughters, Elissa Tucker and Malisa Womble of Holly Bluff, and Ladissa Hutcheson of Flowers; and four grandchildren, Landon and Ethan Tucker, Malaina Womble and Drew Hutcheson.

Thomas H. “Tommy” Orsi, Sr., 82, died February 11, 2013 at his residence in Osyka.
Funeral services were Thursday at Osyka Baptist Church with Rev. Milton Kliesch officiating. Burial followed at Osyka Cemetery under the direction of Hartman-Sharkey Funeral Home.
Mr. Orsi was born May 12, 1930 in Murphy to David and Mabel McCormick Orsi. He was retired from Dow Chemical where he was a field operations superintendent.  He was a member of Osyka Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, David, Frank, James and William Orsi.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Wall Orsi of Osyka; his son,  Dr. Thomas H. Willie B. Stevens, 69, of Benton died on Feb. 11, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Stevens was born Jan. 9, 1944 to Booster Stevens and Marie Sevell. He was an Army Engineer, as well as a Navy Veteran.

DERMECEO DONELSON
Dermeceo Donelson, 36, died Feb. 5, 2013.
Funeral services were Feb. 9 at Tri-Union Independent Church in Benton with Rev. John O. McNeal officiating. Burial followed at Union Paradise Cemetery under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Donelson was born June 11, 1977 to Robert Lee Donelson and the late Pearlie Mae Donelson. He was educated at Benton High School and worked at ACS for nine years until his health failed. He was a member of Steve Chapel Independent Church.

VIOLA GRAY
Viola Hackett Gray, 82, died February 3, 2013.
Funeral services were Feb. 9 at New Bethel M.B. Church with Rev. James Hines officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Gray was born Nov. 17, 1931 in Benton to Tom Hackett and Callie Bell Schaffer. She married the late John W. Griffin, and they had 16 children together. Eight of them preceded her in death.
She later moved to Three Rivers, Mich. and married Harold Gray, who also preceded her in death. After moving back to Yazoo City, she joined New Bethel M.B. Church and served on the Mother Board.
Survivors include her daughters, Vera McGee and Barbara Sue Griffin of Yazoo City and Cynthia Gee of Three Rivers, Mich.; sons, James Griffin, Willie Lee Griffin (Charlaine), Lonnie Griffin (Joyce), Charles Griffin and Alfred James Griffin, all of Yazoo City, and Cornell Gray, of Chicago; sister, Willella Hackett; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Linda Jean Downs Goodwin, 72, died Saturday at home under the loving care of her family.

MARY JONES
Mary Cathryn Jones, 81, of Yazoo City, died Saturday at King’s Daughters Hospital.    
Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Archie Goodwin and Lewis Kalil officiating.  
Burial will follow at Straight Bayou Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was born Oct. 15, 1931 in Humphreys County to Leo Green and Louella Sanders.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Morris C. Jones, and daughter, Janice Turnage.
Survivors include her son, Roger (Susan) Jones of Anguilla; five sisters, June Mathis of Yazoo City, Nina Redditt of Greenwood, Marita Koll of Cleveland, and Debbie Render and Susie Titalo, of North Caroline; brother, H.D. Green of Calhoun City; two grandchildren, Kristie Rice of Anguilla and Wesley Turnage of Greenville; and three great grandchildren.  

DAVID LEDBETTER
David William Ledbetter, 91, died Sunday, February 10, 2013 at home.  
Funeral services were Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Ledbetter was born  in Vaughan on Oct. 27, 1921.  On February 17, 1940, David married Rachel Rogers and after a couple of years living in Beaumont, MS, they settled in the Fugates community where they have lived for the last 71 years.
David is preceded in death by his parents Charles P. Ledbetter and Emma Warmack Ledbetter, grandson Zane Rankin, and son-in-law Johnie Nesbit.  
He is survived by his wife Rachel and his seven children: Donna Williams (Ronny), Charles Ledbetter (Paula), Davie Rankin, Amy Shirley (Jim), David Ledbetter Jr. (Kathy), John Ledbetter (Linda), and Millicent Ledbetter.  He is also survived by siblings: Juanita Taylor, Eloise Smith, and Walter Pitt.  He leaves behind a legacy including 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
While serving as a private in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1945-1946, David earned several medals including: the APTO Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory medal.  He also earned the marksmanship award in his class, an honor subsequently earned by both his son Charles Ledbetter and his grandson Andrew Ledbetter.
A diligent worker in all aspects of his life, he was perhaps, one of the very best when it came to running a cotton gin.  This is evidenced in his 28 years of dedicated labor at Linwood Gin, where he worked until retirement.
David loved to fish every chance he got, and his favorite spot to fish was the Big Black River.  It is a love that he has passed down to nearly every member of his family, as well as a favorite pastime that elicits fond memories of “Gran-Gran” from his children and grandchildren.
Beloved by all who knew him, David was a man of the Lord, a man of honor, integrity and strength.  His absence will be felt immensely by his family and friends, but all rejoice in knowing they will one day see him again.

SUE ABLES
Diana Sue Ables, 64, died Feb. 5, 2013 at her home in Yazoo City.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Abel officiating. Burial followed at Tranquil Cemetery.
Mrs. Ables was born Nov. 24, 1948 in Yazoo County to Woodrow and Mildred Johnston Ward. She was the owner of Magnolia Hospice and a registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Bell Ables Jr.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Downs (Charlie) of Carrollton and Sonya Presley (Mike) of Yazoo City;  a brother, Travis Ward of Anguilla; four sisters, Faye Arender, Elaine Eldridge, Lynn Eldridge and Connie Ward, all of Yazoo City; three grandsons, Christopher Moss, Jacob Moss and Matt Downs; three granddaughters, Suzanne Shaw, Elizabeth Downs and Breanna Moss; and two great-grandchildren.

June Arender Munn, 83, died Feb. 5, 2013 at King’s Daughters Hospital.
Funeral services were Friday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sonny Bradshaw officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Munn was born Aug. 30, 1929 in Yazoo County to Robert J. and Effie Tyson Hanna. She was a retired seamstress for E&W Manufacturing and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Dewitt Munn and G.W. Arender; a son, James Arender; and a granddaughter, Brittany Granberry.
Survivors include three daughters, Jill Warmack (Charles) and Nadine Granberry of Yazoo City and Cheryl Atwell (Mel) of Chatanooga, Tenn.; three sons, Bill Arender (Faye), Phillip Arender (Kathy) and Alexis Arender (Freda) of Yazoo City; two sisters, Vera McMichael of Yazoo City and Castella Hardille of Minden, La.; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were John Granberry, Adam Granberry, Issaac Pigg, Stewart Pigg, Jason Arender, Sam Granberry, Cisco Pigg, Paul Pigg and Keith Arender.
