JULIA ELLIS
Julia Lee Chambers Ellis, 79, of Bentonia died April 9, 2013 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Apr. 13, 2013 at Concord M.B. Church in Little Yazoo. Burial followed at Concord M.B. Church Cemetery.
Julia was born Apr. 2, 1934 in Bentonia. She was a teacher and teacher’s assistant for Yazoo County Schools.
Survivors include three sons, Robert James Chambers of Jackson, Eddie Lloyd Ellis (Cheryl) of Biloxi, and Alan Curtis Ellis (Willie) of Flora; and one daughter, Maggie Doreen Ellis McMillan of Jackson.

MARTHA EVERS
Martha Shannon Evers, 75, died Wednesday April 10, 2013 at Oasis Health & Rehabilitation inf Yazoo City.
Visitation will be Saturday 12:30 – 2 pm. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with services at 2 p.m.  Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Evers was a retired secretary with Mississippi Chemical Corp. and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Weldon Evers, Sr.
Survivors include her  sons, James “Jimmy” Evers of Yazoo City and  Donald O. Evers of Pennsville, N.J., two cousins, Faye Dedon and Mina Reynolds, both of Baton Rouge, La.; an aunt, Edna Tims of Geismar, La.; and an uncle, Foman Windam  of Meridian.

HATTIE FALLS
Hattie Lou Falls, 87, of Yazoo City died April 1, 2013.
Funeral services were held April 6, 2013 at New Zion M.B. Church with Rev. Willie Smith officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Hattie Lou was born Mar. 12, 1926 in Yazoo City to the late Rev. Virge and Laura Wilks Smith. She completed her education at the Number Two High School in Yazoo City.  She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age, and joined the True Light M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.K. Kirkwood. She worked as an usher, church secretary, and as a mother in the church.
Mrs. Falls was preceded in death by her son, Charles Smith (Angelika).
Survivors include sons, Sidney Smith (Barbara) of Weymount, N.J., Cleotha Smith (Tina) of Yazoo City, Perry Falls and Mitchell Falls Jr. (Darlene), both of Vineland, N.J., Nathanial Falls of Yazoo City, and Virgie Falls of Newtonville, N.J.; daughter, Sarah Falls (Charlie) of Yazoo City; 16 grandchildren; and a host of great grandnieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were family and friends.

DAVID HARRIS
David Keith Harris, 52, died unexpectedly on April 6, 2013 in Yazoo City in a motorcycle accident.
The memorial service for David will be held this Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Parkview Church of God. Visitation will be from 1-2:45 p.m.  
David, a life-long resident of Yazoo County was born on June 2, 1960 at King’s Daughters Hospital to Robert “Bobby” Henry Harris Jr. and Josephine “Jo” Roberts Harris.  
David grew up admiring his older brother Dennis. Following high school, he went into business with his parents for 20 years.  He had his first beautiful daughter in 1985, married the love of his life, Lydia, in 1992 and added four more beautiful children to his life.
David’s passing has caused great sorrow. The absence of such a devoted husband, father, son, and friend is indeed a tremendous loss. The sorrow, though, is tempered by knowing that during his life, David gratefully received the grace and salvation that is offered by Christ alone. His life and his 20 years of marriage to Lydia was indeed a testimony.  For this we are so thankful.
David loved music, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was also a dedicated member of Parkview Church of God.  Over the past two years, he had become an active and enthusiastic member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. Their weekly gatherings, which involve the family and focus on Christ, meant a great deal to him. The morning of the accident, he was on his way to meet other CMA members. They were to ride together to the Catfish Festival in the Delta. Wearing their jackets and sporting their Christian based patches, they hoped, as always, to be a light so shining for Christ that others would be drawn to ask who they were and what they stood for.  
David is survived by his wife, Lydia; his five children: Jessica Waldrop (Sean), Robert, Josie, Wesley and John; his parents, Bobby and Jo Harris; his brother, Dennis Harris (Gail); his grandchildren, Joseph Sherlock and Ean Waldrop, and a host of other relatives and friends.  
Memorials may be made to the Christian Motorcyclists Association.   

EDWN HATCHETT
Edwin “Bubba” Hatchett, 73, of Evans, Ga., died March 17, 2013 at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga..
Funeral services and burial were held on March 23, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta under the direction of W.H. Mays Mortuary.
Mr. Hatchett was born June 12, 1939 in Yazoo City to Edwin and Etha Williams Hatchett. He attended St. Francis Catholic School and later joined the United States Air Force in San Diego, Calif.  He remained in California for some time, and later moved to Augusta, Ga. He was an outstanding salesman for Johnson Cadillac Dealership, where he was employed until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen Hatchett Henderson.
Survivors include his wife, Cora Mack Hatchett of Evans, Ga; sister, Margie Robinson (Willie “Manhattan”) of Yazoo City; nieces, Debra Tucker (L.C.) of Jackson, Rosalind Bonds of Avondale, Ariz., Cassandra Johnson (David) of Owensboro, Ky., and Carla Robinson of Yazoo City; nephews, Willie “Woody” Robinson Jr. of Jackson, Paul Henderson of Yazoo City, Hebert Henderson Jr. of Chicago and Marques Henderson of Yazoo City; and also his great nieces, nephews, and relatives and friends.

SARAH LOVETT
Sarah J. Lovett, 88, of Kosciusko, died on April 8, 2013 at the Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, April 11, at the Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Ricky Dorrell, Rev. Joe Montgomery and Rev. Jim Jackson officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lovett was born on April 10, 1924 in Webster County to Joe Stewart and Lydia Wright Stewart.
She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orion Lovett; two brothers, John K. Stewart and Hays Stewart; sister, Ethel Stewart Kimbrough; and son, Donald Gene Lovett.
Survivors include her son, Joe M. Lovett Sr of Yazoo City; four grandchildren, Jody Lovett, Gene Lovett, Michael Lovett and Chris Lovett; five great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Patricia Lovett Coleman.
Pallbearers were Chris Lovett, Gene Lovett, Butch Stewart, Jody Lovett, Michael Lovett and Danny Steen.  

NYOKA TRUELOVE
Memorial Services for Nyoka Truelove, 28,  were held Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Nyoka was born November 19, 1985 to Ruth Truelove and the late Samuel Truelove Sr.
She was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Bennett.
Survivors include her mother, Ruth Truelove; a son, Nicholas Bennett; four brothers, Samuel (Christine) Truelove Jr., Michael Truelove, Joshua (Jerri) Truelove, and Jonathan (Heather) Truelove, two sisters, Tiffany Truelove, and Amy Truelove and grandparents: Mack and Barbara Sedatol.

NANCY ANDREWS
Nancy Paul  Andrews, 62,  died  April 7, 2013 at her residence in Madison.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today with funeral services  at 10 am. at  Parkview Church of God.
She was a retired school teacher who taught in the Warren County, Jackson Public, and Yazoo City school  systems  and was a member of Parkview Church of God in Yazoo City.  She was a graduate of the Mississippi State College for Women, where she was a member of The Rouge Social Club.
After retirement she  volunteered at The Isiah House in Jackson and The Madison County Chamber of Commerce. An avid gardner, she spent  many hours  volunteering at various venues  assisting those less fortunate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward and Mary Claire Coleman Paul.
Survivors include her sons, Lee Andrews and Blake Andrews, both of Vicksburg; brothers, Denny Paul, Mitch Paul and Bob Paul, all of Yazoo City and Bill Paul of Brandon; close friends, David and Becky Jordan of Oxford; and a cousin, Steve Coleman, of Yazoo City.

BILL ATKINSON
William Edward “Bill” Atkinson, 68, of Pickens, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Glenwood Medical Center in West Monroe, La., following a brief illness.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Midway Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at Quiet Ridge Cemetery in Pickens under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Atkinson was born December 29, 1944, in Yazoo City to William Samuel and Eliza Burrus O’Reilly Atkinson.  He attended grade school and high school in Yazoo and Holmes Counties and graduated from Holmes County Agricultural High School.  He then attended and graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1969, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.  
He married Sandra Brown Atkinson of Columbia, Tenn., and they had one daughter, Britton Davis Watson, and three sons, Joseph Clark, William Powell and Benjamin Brown Atkinson.
Bill spent his life’s work as a political campaigner, oil man and third generation cotton farmer.  He also served briefly as a United States Marshal.  The last several years he spent working with his two eldest sons at Peak Fibers and Goetz Cotton in Holly Ridge, La.
Throughout his life Bill was admired for his gift of conversation and insurmountable knowledge of local history and the War Between the States.  His passions included history, genealogy, the Civil War and family.  He was an active member of the Mississippi Sons of Confederate Veterans and served as the Commander for the entire state from 2009-2011, and also served on the Board of Directors for the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library, Beauvior.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Liza Atkinson, and brother, James Nolan “Jim” Atkinson.  
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Atkinson; son, Clark and his wife Lesley Atkinson of Oxford; son, Will Atkinson of Rayville, La.; son, Ben and his wife Marisa Atkinson of Pickens; daughter, Britton and her husband Gregory Watson of Florence, Ala.; grandchildren, Eliza Kate and Cal Atkinson, Campbell, Fletcher, Ford and Jackson Atkinson, and Win, Austin Hall and Lotti Watson.  He is also survived by his brother, Richard Burton Atkinson of Lexington; and sisters, Ann Simmons of Columbia, Rose Anderson of Yazoo City, and Grace Buchanan of Ridgeland.

JAMES BUXTON
James Roy Buxton, 52, of Alexander City, died April 4, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Cummings and Randy Anderson officiating.  Burial followed in the Rocky Creek Cemetery with veteran’s honors provided by the Alexander City Veteran’s Honor Guard.   
Mr. Buxton was born on Sept.29, 1960 in Yazoo City to Calvin Roy Buxton and Florence Saxton Buxton.  He worked as a sheet metal mechanic/airplane repair at Warner Robbins Air Force Base and served in the United States Navy for four years. He enjoyed family time – outdoors with his daughter, Lindsey, and watching reality shows and playing video games with his son, Calvin.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the lake, and listening to pop music.  His cats, Conan, Bentley, and Roscoe, were his best friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Roy Buxton and sister, Nancy Buxton Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Betty Kirk Buxton of Alexander City; daughter, Lindsey Michelle Buxton of Alexander City; son, Calvin Kirk Buxton of Alexander City; mother, Florence Saxton Buxton of Yazoo City; brothers, John Buxton of Savannah, Ga. and Paul Buxton (Becky) of Yazoo City; father and mother-in-law, Bobby and Lizzie Mae Kirk of Alexander City; in-laws, Dwayne Kirk of Alexander City, Vera Kirk of Birmingham, Tim Kirk (Kay) of Birmingham, and Loretta Kirk of Alexander City; and several nieces and nephews.

HERBERT COLLINS Jr.
Herbert C. Collins Jr., 76, died Sunday, March 31, 2013.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home. Burial followed at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Collins was born in Yazoo County to Herbert C. and Ellen Collins. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a longtime resident of Pearl.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Collins; and a brother, Henry Collins.
Survivors include his son, Trey Collins (Shauna); grandson, Blaine Collins; brother, Laverne Collins (Dianne); sister, Gail Shipp (Mac); and a sister-in-law, Laura Collins.

FRANK HARRIS
Frank E. Harris, 82, of Yazoo County, died on April 4, 2013 at his home in Satartia surrounded by his family.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
For 82 blessed years, he made many memories with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless friends.
Born in Clark County, Mississippi on September 12, 1930 to parents John William Harris and Margaret Rebecca (Gordon), he originated to the Satartia area in 1934. He graduated from Satartia School, where he met his wife Peggy Ann (Green). Together, they created 62 years of marriage and five children.
A lifelong farmer, his sons now carry on his legacy through their work at Harris Farms. He was a mountain of a man, towering above others in both physique and character. He was known for his quiet competence and resounding wisdom. Now in heaven with his Savior, his parting words to loved ones would likely be: “Y’all be particular.” Affiliations include being a founding member of the board of Tri-County Academy, a board member of the Yazoo County School District, and a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold Harris and Bobby Harris, and sister, Edna Harris Jones.
Survivors include his wife; children, Deborah Diane Lancaster and her husband Roy, Billy Ray Harris, Michael Green Harris and his wife Nicki, Peggy Susan Harris, and Jimmy Brent Harris and his wife Michele; grandchildren, Jada Johnson and her husband Bill, Justin Lancaster and his wife Kelsey, Jancsi Roney and her husband Brandon, Kaci Harris, Christopher Harris, Joseph Sanders, John Michael Harris and Garrett Sanders; and great grandchildren, Shaw Lancaster, Camden Johnson and Raina Johnson.
Grandsons served as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers including Barney Scroggins, L.H. Martin, Donnie Martin, Bill Martin, T.R. Hilderbrand, Glen Walker, and Charles Hintson. Officiants were Brother Charlie Harris and Reverend Brandon Roney.

CHARLES HOLADAY
Charles E. Holaday, 97, died April 1, 2013 in Leesburg, Ga.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Holaday was born Feb. 28, 1916 in Louise to Charles Holaday Sr. and Flo Holaday. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired chemical engineer.
Survivors include a daughter, Merle Stone of New Bern, N.C.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

ELLEN KENT
Ellen V. Scarborough Kent, of Slidell, La., 82, died  April 7, 2013 at River Regions Hospice House in River Ridge, La.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell, La. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Kent was born in Yazoo County to Lorenzo and Nettie Irwin Scarborough. She had lived in Slidell since 1971.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross L. Kent Sr. and three brothers.

MORRIS LANDRUM
Morris Sylvester Landrum, 58, of Kiln, died April 3, 2013 in Kiln.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 8, 2013 at Fenton Community Center in Kiln under the direction of Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Landrum was a native of Yazoo County and a resident of Hancock for the past 33 years. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Necaise Crossing. He was a wonderful brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all.
Mr. Landrum was preceded in death by his mother, Marsline Cuevas; paternal grandparents, Walter and Elma Landrum; maternal grandmother, Magnolia Necaise; maternal grandfather, Walley Ladner.
Survivors include three brothers, his twin, Horace Landrum of Kiln, Clint Martin of Harrison County and Mikie Cuevas of Hancock County; father, Owen Landrum of Kiln; nephew, Stacy Landrum (Monica) of Lumberton; two nieces, Beverly Necaise and Nikki Farve (Louis) both of Kiln; numerous other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

THOMAS MILLER
Thomas L. Miller, 33, died March 15, 2013 in New York City.
Mr. Miller was born Nov. 14, 1979 in Yazoo City to Tommy Miller and Becky Creel Miller. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a phlebotomist and a Methodist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Miller; grandfathers, Judson Miller and Jack Creel; and great-grandparents, Arnold and Nola Smith.
Survivors include his mother, Becky Creel Miller of Yazoo City; sister, Melissa Bergeron of Madison, Wis.; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Creel of Yazoo City; and his paternal grandmother, Judy Alexander of West.

ANTHONY TAYLOR
Anthony “Tony” Albert Taylor, of Capital Heights, Md., formerly of Yazoo City, died on March 20, 2013 at  Prince Georges Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Funeral services were held on March 28, 2013 in Silver Spring, Md. with Pastor Harold L. Dugger Sr.
Tony was the fifth child and youngest son of Dr. Jeremiah and Mrs. Thelma Johnson Taylor of Yazoo City.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree with distinction at the University of Michigan in 1976, and he completed his Juris Doctorate at Georgetown University Law Center in 1979. At the time of his passing, he served as a professor of Criminal Justice and History at Westwood College in Virginia.   
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Clara Johnson of Eden, as well as other aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Avery Taylor of El Segundo, Calif.; siblings,  Jeremiah Taylor Jr. and Gwen Taylor Nash of Maryland, Dr. Joyce Taylor Gipson of Massachusetts, Geraldine Taylor of Georgia, and Clair Taylor Hauck of New Hampshire; and a host of other relatives and friends.

SHIRLEY ALLEN
Shirley Perry Allen, 87, of Indianola, died on April 3, 2013 in Birmingham, Ala.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Indianola. Burial followed in the Indianola City Cemetery under the direction of Boone-Card Funeral Home of Indianola.
Mrs. Allen was born in Yazoo City on April 16, 1925 to William Sidney Perry and Estelle Shurley Perry.  
She lived most of her life in Indianola and attended Blue Mountain College and graduated from University of Mississippi in 1946, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.  She was a charter member and past president of Town and Country Garden Club and Den Mother of Troop 41 in Indianola.  She was a former board member of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese of Mississippi and was a communicant of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Indianola.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Julian Allen Jr.; and her son, Robert Julian Allen III.  
She is survived by her children, Sidney Perry Allen (Deborah), Meredith Baird Allen (Margaret), Shirley Anne Stringfellow (Ed), and daughter-in-law Kathy Keach Allen; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

MARTHA DAVIS
Martha “Molly” K. Davis, 74, of Yazoo County, died on April 2, 2013 at Sharkey Issaquena Hospital.
Graveside services were held Friday, April 5, at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Glen Allen officiating under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born on Aug. 18, 1938 in Yazoo County to Perrin Kirk Sr. and Fredene Smith Kirk. She was a retired convenience store merchant.
She was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Pam (Terrell) Ledbetter of Benton; Jim (Susan) Davis of Bentonia; grandchildren, B. Ledbetter, Hunter Ledbetter, Brently Davis and Abby Davis; great grandchildren, Rainer, Milla and Dalton Ledbetter.
Pallbearers were Rodney Davis, Terry Davis, Tommy Giles, Tim Davis, Danny Kirk and Jessie Germany.

CHARLES HOLADAY
Charles E. Holaday, 97 of Leesburg, and longtime resident of Albany, died April 1, 2013 at Lee County Health Care in Leesburg, GA.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 7,  at 2 p.m. at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church in the Haley Chapel with Rev. William Collins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Haley Chapel.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday April 9, at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
A native of Louise, Mr. Holaday graduated from Copiah Lincoln High School, then received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University and did some graduate studies at the University of Maryland.
He served in the United States Army as Captain during World War II. When Mr. Holaday made his residence in Albany, he started the National Peanut Research Laboratory in Dawson, Ga. and was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was Chairman of the Administrative Board and President of the Fellowship Sunday School class. He also served as President of the Golden K Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Holaday was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Rogers Holaday; and his second wife, Janet Van Cise Rainey Holaday; and his brothers, Wade and Ben Holaday.
Survivors include his daughter, Merle Stone and her husband Dr. Ben Stone of New Bern, N.C., grandsons, Timothy Stone of Charlotte, N.C., Harry Stone of Apex, N.C. and Michael Stone of New Orleans; great-grandchildren, Wilson and Caroline Stone.

DENNIS OLLIE
Dennis Wade Ollie, 56, of Yazoo City, died March 22, 2013 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held March 29, 2013 at New Zion M.B. Church Annex in Yazoo City with Rev. Willie Smith officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Garden Cemetery under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Ollie was born Nov. 29, 1956 in Yazoo City to the late Dock and Alzay Hatchett Ollie. He graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1974. He was employed by the Mississippi Department of Transportation for 24 years.
He was preceded in death by both parents, and his older sister, Eva Ollie Carpenter.
Survivors include his daughter, DeAndrea; two brothers, Rufus Ollie of Yazoo City and Willie Ollie of Chicago; five sisters, Clara Crowder (Charles) of Yazoo City, Lillie Mozee (Brian) of Jackson, Marry Etta Oldham, Andrea Gordon, and Doris Lambert, all of Chicago; godson, Raymond Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were his co-workers from MDOT, Barry Berteau, Jerry Cooper, Willard Ketchum, Christopher Randle, Fred Stuckey, and Donald Woodard.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Hatchett, David Hatchett, Brian Moore, Jr., Cortez Moore, and Richard Carpenter III.

ADA BRASE
Ada Hood Brase, 85, formerly of Yazoo City, died on   February 3, 2013 at her home in Saginaw, Texas.  
A memorial service will be held at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City on Saturday, April 6, 2013.  Visitation is at 10 a.m., with the service at 11 a.m., and a graveside service to follow.
Born in Sunflower County, Ada moved with her mother and family to Yazoo City in the 1940s.  Later, she moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where she met her future husband, Louis C. Brase, originally of Edwardsville, Ill.   
She was a talented homemaker, especially gifted in the kitchen. She was a longtime member of the Methodist church and worked for many years as church secretary for two congregations.   
Mrs. Brase is preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Nettie Gilmore Hood; siblings, Johnny, Wilmer, Otis, Ethel, Lucille, Florence, Lawrence, and J.W.; and her husband Louis C. Brase.  
She is survived by her children Elizabeth Brase, James and Sandy Brase, and Joe and Rebecca Forbes; grandchildren, Ada and Will Forbes, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

HILDRED KING-BODDY
Hildred Louise King-Boddy, 75, of Yazoo City, died March 24, 2013.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at St. Matthew C.O.G.I.C. with Pastor Gregory Robertson officiating.
Mrs. King-Boddy was born on Sept. 16, 1937 in Benton to Miller and Alice King. She gave her life to Christ at an early age.
She was a retired educator and custodian.
She married Everett Boddy Sr. and to this union eight children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Cleveland, Miller and James King; daughter, Hilda Boddy-Anderson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Bullock-Boddy; brother-in-law, Edward Boddy Sr. and sister-in-law, Margaret Boddy-Bayless.
Survivors include her children, Everett Boddy Jr., Linda Boddy-Anfield (Walter), Danny Boddy, Gregory Dortch (Mary), John Dortch (Beverly),  Larry Day (Bertha), all of Yazoo City, Joyce Boddy-Stiff of Mt. Prospect, Ill., Herman Boddy (Brenda) of Memphis, Denise Boddy-Felton, Alice Boddy, both of Benton, James Day (Lucretia) of Maricopa, Az.; sister, Mildred Honeycutt of Wichita, Kan.; four brothers, Johnny King (Beulah) of Oaks Park, Ill., RC King (Evelena), OD King (Dorothy) of Benton; Arthur King (Mary) of Canton and Curtis Boddy of Clinton; and a host of family and friends.

ERNEST CALLIHAN
Ernest Oliver Callihan, 82, of Yazoo City, died on March 28, 2013 at the G.V. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson.
Graveside services were held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Callihan was born on Dec. 19, 1930 in Yazoo County to James Callihan and Audrey Johnson.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and a retired oil field worker. He was a member of Tinsley Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Lindy Mosley of Yazoo City; two sisters, Wylodine Anderson and Judy Walker of Yazoo City; two granddaughters; one great grandchild; and two nephews.
Pallbearers were Ray Walker, Justin Panter, James Smith, Michael Mosley, Leo Anderson and Raymond Walker.

JASON HANCOCK
Jason D. Hancock, 33, of Brandon, died on March 30, 2013.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Hancock Family Cemetery with Rev. Gowan Ellis officiating under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Hancock was born on Aug. 31, 1979 in Yazoo County to Michael Hancock and Mary Frances Gipson.
He was an Army veteran and a student.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Peyton and Joy Peeples and paternal grandfather, Austin Wayne Hancock.
Survivors include his father, Mike Hancock of Bentonia; mother, Terri Hancock of Bentonia; brother, Phillip Williams Jr. of Brandon; sister, Nicole Burrough of Bentonia; son, Aarin Michael Hancock of Brandon; daughter, Makenzie B. Hancock of Yazoo City; and fiance, Kelli Findley of Brandon.
Pallbearers were Joey Hancock, A.J. Rug, Robbie King, Brent Burrough, Willie Moore and Lee Moore.

JAY JOHNSON
Jay A. Johnson, 80, died on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson from complications following surgery.  
Funeral services are Wednesday, April 3 at Flowood Baptist Church at 10 a.m. with burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.  
Mr. Johnson was born on June 22, 1932 in Humphreys County to Dewitt and Sally Johnson.  He attended Benton High School and went into the Air Force in 1952.  After boot camp at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX, he was trained as a dental assistant at a military base in the Great Lakes.  
From there, he was assigned to regular duty at Lake Charles AFB in Lake Charles, La. The majority of Jay’s career was spent at Miller Transporters, Inc. working as a central dispatcher until he retired in 1998.  He was married to his first wife, Mattie Gwendolyn Powell in 1953.  Jay was married to her until she died in 1994.  Jay married Ruth Johnson in 1995 and they enjoyed many years of traveling with the Mississippi Travel Trailer Club and Mississippi Airstream Travel Trailer Club until her death in 2012.  
Jay was very devoted to his family, friends, neighbors, and church.
Survivors include  his brother, Charles Johnson, Alton, IL, and sister, Emilie Lansford, Ocean Springs.  His children are: Charlie Jon Johnson (Linda), Hazlehurst,; Harriet Johnton Brown (Gary), Madison and Cathy Johnton Humphrey (Jackie), Florence.  His step children are: Scarlet Joly Bernard (Victor), San Jose, CA; Christopher Joly (Susan), Baton Rouge, LA.  His grandchildren are: Emma Brown Geiger (Landon), Tupelo, Madeline Brown, Madison, Jason Humphrey and Justin Humphrey of Florence.  He has one great-grandchild, Rowyn Saige Geiger of Tupelo,. His grandchildren that he shared with Ruth are: Kristen Joly Renton (Jeff), Houston, Texas, Kevin Joly, Baton Rouge, La., Amy Bernard, Guilette Bernard, Victoria Bernard all of San Jose, CA; Madeline Pounders, Sumrall and Michaela Lachney, Zachary, La.  
He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

JAMES MOORE
James “Otis” Moore, 70, of Yazoo City, died on March 25, 2013.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Chapel Hill M.B. Church in Yazoo City.
Mr. Moore was born on March 4, 1943 in Yazoo City to Eddie James Moore and Annie Lee York.
He was a member of Chapel Hill M.B. Church.
He was a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Eddie Moore.
Survivors include his 12 children, Caroly Moore, Alma Moore, Annie (Gene) Jones, Rose Moore, Evelyn (JC) Young, Dorothy Lee, all of Mobile, Iris (Jessie) McCullum, James (Hattie) Moore, Parnell Moore, Travis Moore, all of Yazoo City, James (Valerie) Lee of St. Charles, Mo. and Tanya Cook of Milwaukee; 25 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Alfreda Watson of College Park, Ga.; and a host of family and friends.

CHRISPER “LUCY” NEAL
Chrisper “Lucy” Neal, 70, of Yazoo City, died on March 23, 2013 at Holmes County Hospital in Lexington.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Big Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Thornton with Rev. Leroy Gibson officiating. Burial followed at Sweet Cannan.
Mrs. Neal was born on March 28, 1942 in Holmes County to Robert and Juanita Granderson. She accepted Christ at an early age at Walnut Grove M.B. Church in Thornton.
She was married to James Neal Sr. on Jan. 28, 1959.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; James, Hattie, William, Moline, Robert Jr. and Henry Lee.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Ann Smith (Otis) of Jackson; two sons, James Neal Jr. (Alberta) and William Edward Neal Sr., both of Tchula; stepdaughter, Sylvia Sanders of Chicago; four grandchildren, Lee Otis Smith (Tabitha) of Atlanta, Elnora Shari Smith of Ridgeland, Ebony Shunte Russell of Lexington and William Edward Neal Jr. of Flora; six great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Mayze, Calvin Head, Rev. Tom Collins and Demetrius Rowe.
Pallbearers were Frank Robertson Jr., Wayne Sago, Antonio Alexander, Robert Newton, Lee Otis Smith and Gary Meeks.

VESTA SEAY
Vesta Nations Seay, 94, of Whitfield, died on March 31, 2013 at the Mississippi State Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11 a.m.  at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Richard Jennings officiating under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Seay was born on Sept. 21, 1928 to Travis Moore and Iva Johnston.
She was a credit manager at Mississippi Chemical and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Nations; and second husband, Delbert Seay.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Banks (Jerry) of Florence and Patricia Vaughn (Alan) of Belle Chasse, La.; two grandsons, Grant Banks and Burt Banks (Ellie); sister, Joann White of Atlanta; and two stepsons, Delbert Seay of Harrison, Ark. and Stanley Seay.
Pallbearers were Grant Banks, Walter Lamar Moore, Burt Banks and Allie Nations Jr.

POSEY WALDRUP
Posey William Waldrup, 68 die on Saturday March 30, 2013.  
Funeral services will be held at Stricklin-King Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Mr. Waldrup, a lifelong native of Yazoo County was the only son born to Posey Warren Waldrup and Stella Mae Waldrup on Feb 4, 1945.
Mr. Waldrup is survived by sons Robert William Waldrup of Los Angeles, John Rene Waldrup of Pelahatchie and daughter Kristen Mace Waldrup of Vaughan, as well as his three grandchildren Mary McKenzie, Hannah Rene and his namesake, Ella Posey.  
Mr. Waldrup owned and operated Canton Sheet Metal and Roofing and Greenthumbs Nursery.
