LARRY HARBER
Larry Wayne Harber, 58, of Yazoo City died June 11, 2013  at Oasis Health and Rehabilitation.  
Funeral services were held Friday at the Stricklin-King Chapel with Rev. Andy May officiating. Burial followed at Bethlehem Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.  
Mr. Harber was born May 25, 1955 in Yazoo County to Columbus Harber and Trudy Boyd.  He was a truck driver and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.  
He is preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Harber and Trudy Harber; niece, Rylee Elizabeth Farrow and sister, Betty Chisolm.  
Survivors include two brothers, Billy Ray Harber (Grace) of Benton and Micheal Harber (Margaret) of Bentonia; three nieces, Emily Williams (Matt) of Vicksburg, Heather Beacom (Jonathan) of Canton and Maggie Farrow (Josh) of Oxford; two nephews, Jason Harber (Delaine) of Benton and Dee Harber of Cleveland; and a brother in law, George Chisolm of Bentonia.

OLIVER MCBRIDE
Oliver Lee “Soul” McBride, 63, died May 4, 2013 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were held May 11, 2013 at King Solomon M.B. Church with Rev. Benjamin Hall Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Bull’s Cemetery in Benton under the direction of Century Funeral Home.  
Mr. McBride was born March 19, 1950 to the late Annie Bell Little and the late Walter McBride.  
He graduated from St. Francis Catholic School in 1968 and was well known in the auto industry by many as “O.” He was employed at Yazoo Motors, Wilson Kia, Watson Quality, Joe Usry and many other car dealerships throughout Mississippi.  
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Francis Catholic Church.  Late in life he joined King Solomon and became a faithful deacon until his health failed.  
He is survived by five sons, Brian R. McBride, Dedric (Melissa) McBride of Jackson, Andrew Brown of Atlanta,  Cordero (LaSheika) McBride and Cortero McBride of Yazoo City; one daughter, Angela Brown of Nashville.; two sisters, Ruby Lee Settle of Memphis, Tenn., and Alvonia L. Fouche’ of Yazoo City; two brothers, Theophilius (Gwen) Little of Baton Rouge, La, and Charles Edwin Little of Yazoo City; 19 grandchildren, 18 nieces and a host of family and friends.  
Pallbearers were the deacons and layman of King Solomon M.B. Church.  
Honorary pallbearers were Brian McBride, Cordero McBride, Theophilius Little, Detric McBride, Cortero McBride and Charles Little.

ROGER MILNER
Roger Clifton Milner, 64, died June 5, 2013.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Booth Poole officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Milner was born July 31, 1948 in Yazoo City to Joseph Clifton Milner and Faye Rodgers Milner. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, a retired electronic engineer and a member of Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Clifton Milner.
Survivors include his wife, Lynn Milner of Davie, Fla.; daughters, Robin Milner (Brian) of Orlando and Amanda Alonza of Davie, Fla.; son, Robert Milner of Melbourne, Fla.; mother, Faye Milner of Yazoo City; sister, Linda Milner Smith of New London, N.C.; two brothers, Tommy Milner (Brenda) and Charlie Milner (Teresa), both of Yazoo City; and five grandchildren, Clifton Crain, James Crain, Patrick Crain, Andrew Crain and Allison Crain.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Crain, Joey Milner, Noble Milner, Justin Milner, Luke Smith and Michael Milner.

ALLIE SMITH
Allie Belle Smith, 76, of Bentonia, died on June 11, 2013.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, June 13, at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. D.J. Specner officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born on Oct. 3, 1936 in Carrollton to Jefferson Davis Lott and Theresa Maggie Bailey. She was a homemaker and a member of Bentonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Richard Smith; sons, Roy Wayne (Karen) of Temple Texas, David Smith of Bentonia and Steven Smith (Melissa) of Pass Christian; and daughters, Terri Cohea (Lacy) of Flora, Gale Holland (Lee) of Madison; Tricia Henderson of Phoenix and Donna Gregory (Don) of Gluckstadt.

CLARENCE TAYLOR SR.
Clarence Taylor Sr., 66, died on June 6, 2013.
Mr. Taylor was born on July 29, 1946,in Royal Oakland County, Mich., to Leonard Taylor Sr. and Marie Taylor.
He attended St. Francis Catholic School.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Taylor of Yazoo City; Nine children, Janice Cox of Kentucky, Clarence (Bull) Taylor Jr., Alonzo and Erica Taylor of Yazoo City, Troy Johnson of St. Louis, Tino and Kate of Milwaukee, and Karen and Clarence Taylor III of Chicago; sister, Odell Cole of Yazoo City; four brothers, Leonard (Jewel) Taylor Jr. and QZ Taylor, both of Yazoo City, David (Carlyn) Taylor of Virgina and Odess Taylor; and a host of family and friends.

JAMES COLLUM Sr.
James Earl Collum Sr., 59, died June 2, 2013.
Funeral services were Saturday at Triune Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Ramsey officiating. Scott Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
In 1974 he married Wanda White of Satartia, and they had one child. In 1978 he married Dorothy Fleming Collum of Leland, and they had two children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Leola Moore Collum, stepmother, Johnnie Cummings Collum; father, Almos Collum Sr.; sister, Margartee Brown; son, Antonio T. Collum and a brother, Almos Collum Jr.
Survivors include his son, James Collum Jr. (Katrece) of Detroit; two stepsons, Michael Watson (Lakeya) and Eddie Watson Jr. of Yazoo City; two daughters, Ukila Watson Jr. of Yazoo City and Veronica White Hudson (Fredrick) of Buford, Ga.; six brothers, Charles Collum (Shirley), Willie Collum (Jill), Larry Collum Sr. (Juanita), Claude Collum Sr. (Vera), Calvin Brown and Lee A. Hoy; sister, Francis Monston, nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

HARRIET NELSON
Harriet Ann Nelson, 76, died June 9, 2013 at home.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Will Wilkerson officiating. Burial followed at the Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson was born June 29, 1936 in Louisville to James Lorena Prisock and Elsie Mareen Holly Prisock. She was a registered nurse and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elvis Prisock, Kim Prisock and Hunter Prisock; a sister, Jean Prisock Chandler and two grandsons, Brandon Harris Nelson and Edward Allen Nelson.
Survivors include her husband, Edward B. Nelson of Benton; three sons, Stanley Bruce Nelson (Janet) of Crossville, Tenn. and David Wayne Nelson (Hope) and Edward Gilbert Nelson (Dayna), both of Yazoo City; a daughter, Wanda June Stricklin; sister, Betty Ruth Rieves (Robert); 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Pete Pingrey, Steve Swayze, Bruce Nelson, Bill White, Edwin Allen, John Swayze, Walter Louis Hogue, Justin Nelson, Rusty Odum and Joseph Pigg.

DEACON PATENOTTE
David Kayes “Deacon” Patenotte, beloved husband, father, and friend, died Monday June 10, 2013 surrounded by family.
Visitation will be today at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will follow at 2 p.m.
After serving in the U. S. Army, Mr. Patenotte owned Patenotte’s Grocery in Yazoo City until his retirement in 1997.
He was preceeded in death by  his first wife, Lillie Thibodeaux Patenotte; daughter,  Lisa Patenotte Stephenson, and brother,  John Gangloff Patenotte Jr.
Survivors include his wife Faye MacLemore Patenotte; daughters, Kay Patenotte, Suzanne (Samir) Itani, Michele Patenotte and Lillie (Peter) Johnson; grandchildren, David and Joe Stephenson, Hibba, Omar and Rayan Itani, and Stephanie and Garrett Johnson; and his adopted daughter/personal assistant/ comfort and caregiver Janice Roark.

MARGIE ROBINSON
Margie Ann Hatchett Robinson, 72, died June 2, 2013.
Funeral services were Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jeremy Tobin and Father Arokia Savio officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Garden under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson was born Sept. 15, 1940 in Yazoo City to Edwin and Etha Williams Hatchett. She attended St. Francis School and was a member of St. Francis-St. Mary Catholic Church. She was employed by Century Funeral Home for a number of years before she became the first African American to be employed by the Jitney Jungle store as a meat wrapper until her retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Willie Edward “Manhattan” Robinson of Yazoo City; son, Willie “Woody” Robinson Jr. of Jackson, daughters, Debra Tucker (L.C.) of Jackson, Rosalind Robinson Bonds of Avondale, Arizona and Carla Robinson of Yazoo City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Nelson Tate, David Younger, Cornell Graham, Cedric Gibbs, Arthur Davis and Alfred Stokes.
Honorary pallbearers were John Meeks, Wardell Leach, Billy Turner, Dr. William Nelson, Herman Leach and Billy Joe Henderson.

ROBERT EDWARDS
Robert Edwards, 95, died Sunday, June 2, 2013.
Mr. Edwards was born in Vaughan on Oct. 12, 1917 to Ananias and Addie Edwards. He was the oldest of 10 children (2 sisters and 7 brothers).  He was a member for over 50 years at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Deacon and sang in the choir.
He was United States Navy veteran, and after his service to his country he returned home and obtained a fulltime job working for Chrysler Automotive. He worked for them for 30 years and retired. This was a brief vacation for him, and he decided to return to the workforce where he went to work at Better Made potato chip company as a security guard. This job took on another 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jesse Mae Ola Edwards; six brothers, Alonzo Sr., Matthew Sr., James, Cero, Ananias Jr., and Jessie Curtis; and a sister, Fannie Lee.
Survivors include his son, Jasper (Linda) Edwards Sr. of Fayetteville, NC; a brother: Richard Edwards, Detroit, MI; a sister: Mary (Edwards) Tyler, Los Angeles, CA;   three sisters-in-laws, Ceila Delores, Chicago, Ill, Bernice, St. Louis, MO, Helen, Los Angeles, CA, six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Special recognition and thanks goes to cousins: Alicia, Derrick, Jaylen, Jordyn, Vickie and ReRe for their devoted love and care for “Grandpa” when we could not be there.

GRACE MIGDOL
Sharon “Grace” Migdol died June 1, 2013.
Mrs. Migdol was born to the late Sylvia and Jake Miron (of Miron's Jewelry) on Oct. 8, 1948 in Yazoo City. She later moved to Dallas, Texas where she married Marvin Migdol and gave birth to three children: Michael Migdol (of San Jose), Susan Migdol (of Dallas), and Honi O'Kelley (of Atlanta).
In 1985, she returned to Yazoo City where she began her career as a professional photographer at Miron's Shutterbugs. Grace was a strong advocate for public schools and was very active in PTA. While living in Yazoo City, you could often find her cheering on the Yazoo City Indians, taking pictures at both the home and away games. In 2004, she returned to Dallas. She loved animals of all kind (including her deceased dogs Brownie, Ginger, Daisy, and Yazoo), Waffle House, rare steaks, and Russel Stover chocolate. She possessed a warm, loving spirit.
In addition to her three children, Grace is also survived by two grandchildren, Kayleigh and Will, both of San Jose, stepdaughter, Helene of Austin, two step-grandchildren, Shawn and Alesha of Austin, and dog Katie.
Memorials may be made in Grace's memory to the English Springer Rescue Foundation.

JOSHUA  MALONE
Joshua Darrell Malone, 23, of Laurel, died on May 23, 2013 in an automobile accident in Tioga, North Dakota.
Funeral services were held May 28 at Midway Baptist Church with Elder Dan Malone, Danny Malone and Tony Bagley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mr. Malone was born on Feb. 8, 1990 in Jackson to William Darrell Malone and Kimberly Long Malone.
He was a diesel mechanic and a member of Santee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca K. Malone of Laurel; son, Joshua Aaron Malone of Laurel; parents Darrell and Kimberly Malone of Benton; paternal grandparents, Dan and Dot Malone of Waco, Texas; maternal grandparents, Lester and Shirley Thompson of West Monroe, La.; father and mother in law, Kendall and Melanie King of Laurel; brother, Kade Malone of Benton; and sister, Misty McDade of Hot Springs, Ark.
Pallbearers were M.D. Whatley, Brian White, Stanley King, Garon Saxton, Bobby Ray Howell, Steven King and James Culpepper.

BETTY WIGLEY
Betty Iris Wigley, 61, of Yazoo City, died on June 2, 2013 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Mrs. Wigley was born June 4, 1951 in Yazoo County to Meajor Mitchell Johnston and Doris Upton.  
She is survived by her husband, Richard Wigley; daughter, Jennifer Wigley of Yazoo City; son, Daniel R. Wigley; three granddaughters, Brenna Rae Beliew, Mason Abigail Scott and Addison Alyse Girard; grandson, Austin Gage Hill; and four brothers, Larry (Kathy) Johnston, Allen Johnston (Linda) and Leon (Frances Lynn) Johnston, all of Yazoo City and Stanley (Gayla) Johnston of Arkansas.

HERBERT BALLARD
Herbert “The Captain” Ballard, 78, died May 27, 2013.
Funeral services were Saturday at King Solomon M.B. Church with Rev. Maurice Allen officiating. Burial followed at Yazoo Memorial Gardens under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Ballard was born to Willie B. and Minnie Ballard on April 25, 1935 on Kincaid Plantation in Yazoo County. At the age of 13 he left school to become a worker on the plantation and didn’t retire until he was 70 years old.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Mae Armstrong Ballard, eight children, Bobby (Angela), James (Della), Dorthy (Gloster), Hubert (Anita), John Earl (Tracye), Yolanda (Gregory), Jennifer (Tensely), Anthony and Bobby Clifton; 37 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Kenny Carter, Eugene Johnson, Steve Watson, Melvin Johnson, Fitzgerald Johnson and Eugene Richardson Jr.

JOSHUA  MALONE
Joshua Darrell Malone, 23, of Laurel, died on May 23, 2013 in an automobile accident in Tioga, North Dakota.

LONNIE MOORE
Lonnie “Tickle” Moore, 54, of Yazoo County died May 24, 2013 at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Funeral services were held June 1 at Oak Groove A.M.E. Church with Rev. E.B. Mullen officiating. Burial followed at Cypress Gardens under the direction of Scott Memorial Funeral Home.  
Mr. Moore was born March 29, 1959 in Charleston, Mo. to the late Katie Mae Moore Luce and the late Lonnie Moore Sr.
He was baptized at Oak Grove A.M.E. Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. H. Foster.
He attended N.B. Taylor High School.
He was preceded in death by  Walter Gordon and Willie Rush Washington.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles Moore and Robert Moore (Laverne) of Yazoo City; three sisters, Katie S. Moore, Marry Moore (Roger), and Elaine O. Moore (Randy), all of Yazoo City; and a host of family and friends.
Serving as active pallbearers were Roger Knight, Darrius Moore, Walter Moore, Greg Noel, Daniel Watson, Harry Smith, Spencer Washington, Randy Richardson and Shaun Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers included Charles Moore, William Luce, Robert Moore and Timothy Hudson.  

TOMMY PHARR
Tommy Edward Pharr, 63, formerly of Yazoo County died Sept. 28, 2011 in El Centro, Calif.  
Graveside services were held on June 1 in the Pharr Family Cemetery in Benton.
Mr. Pharr was born on Oct. 17, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aden Victor Pharr Sr. and his mother Mollie Elizabeth Jones Pharr.  
Survivors include two sisters, Gencie Hasty and Frances King of Benton; and brother, Aden Victor Pharr Jr.

EDNA SHIVE
Edna Earl Shive, 97, died May 31, 2013 at the Pearl River County Nursing Home in Poplarville.
Funeral services were Tuesday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Eugene Norris officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Shive was born Feb. 18, 1916 in Satartia to Jurd Lee Morris and Emma Davis Morris. She was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Westwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Clinton Shive; 11 siblings; and one granddaughter.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Gennin (Frank) of Poplarville and Rose Mary Woods of Brandon; two sisters, Elizabeth Hood of Yazoo City and Mary Morris of Jackson; a brother, Tom Morris of Yazoo City; four grandchildren, Andy Gennin (Claire), Josh Gennin, Erica Boykin (Marshall) and Clint Woods; and four great-grandchildren, Tatum Gennin, Ayden Gennin, Tristen Gennin and Payton Boykin.
Serving as pallbearers were Clint Woods, Bill Woods, Marshall Boykin and Andy Gennin.

BETTY WIGLEY
Betty Irish Wigley, 61, of Yazoo City, died on June 2, 2013 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Mrs. Wigley was born June 4, 1951 in Yazoo County to Major Mitchell Johnston and Doris Upton.  
She is survived by her husband, Richard Wigley; daughter, Jennifer Wigley of Yazoo City; son, Daniel R. Wigley; three granddaughters, Brenna Rae Beliew, Mason Abigail Scott and Addison Alyse Girard; grandson, Austin Gage Hill; and four brothers, Larry (Kathy) Johnston, Allen Johnston and Leon (Frances Lynn) Johnston, all of Yazoo City and Stanley (Gayla) Johnston of Arkansas.

JIMMY WILLIAMS
Jimmy Randal Williams, 44, of Brandon, died on June 2, 2013 at his home.  
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Yazoo County.
Mr. Williams was born Oct. 30, 1968 in Cleveland to Thomas Williams and Shirley Strawbridge.
He worked in construction and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Thomas “Shortie” Williams.  
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Williams of Brandon; daughter, Nicole Williams of Yazoo City; three sons, Hunter Williams of Hattiesburg, Judd Williams and Jeffery Williams, both of Brandon; mother, Shirley Williams of Yazoo City; three brothers, Thomas Williams, Dewayne Williams and Bobby Wayne Williams, all of Yazoo City; and two sisters, Linda Fleming of Peyton, Co. and Melissa Putman of Madison.
