Miss Kathleen Culpepper and Jeremy MowryRon and Margaret Culpepper of Yazoo City are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Bonnie Kathleen Culpepper, to Jeremy Len Mowry, son of Marlin and Peggy Mowry of West Point.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Nadine Culpepper and the late William Culpepper of Sallis and Walter Richardson Sr. and the late Bonnie Sue Richardson of Bentonia.
Miss Culpepper is a 2004 graduate of Benton Academy. In 2008, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University with a major in Biological Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). And, in 2010, she earned a Master of Science degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a major in Biomedical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). She is currently finishing her Ph.D. program in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Virgil and Laura Mowry of Brooksville and the late Jim and Letha Chain of Columbus.
Mr. Mowry is a 2000 graduate of the Mississippi School for Math and Science. In 2005, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University with a major in Mechanical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude). And, in 2007, he earned a Master of Science degree from Mississippi State University also in Mechanical Engineering (Summa Cum Laude). He is a licensed professional engineer currently working as a Melting Engineer for the American Cast Iron Pipe Company in Birmingham, Ala.
The couple will be married February 9, 2013, at noon in the Chapel of Memories on the Mississippi State University campus with reception to follow. The ceremony will be officiated by Pastor Kenny Gardner of the Columbus Christian Center.
All friends and family of the couple are invited to share in the celebration.

Justin Gower and Tekiela Nelson of Yazoo City are proud to announce the birth of their child, Justice Mariah Gower, on October 15, 2012 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Justice weighed six pounds, nine ounces and measured 20 and a half inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Linda Nelson and Floyd Sheppard.
Paternal grandparent is Diana Gower.
Also welcoming the new arrival are Tykeriya and Talija Nelson.

The Yazoo Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution held its Oct. 18 meeting in the home of Montine Bond.
JoAnne Collins, Yazoo Chapter Regent, led the opening assisted by Vice Regent Priscilla Harper with the prayer, Americans Creed and Pledge to the Flag followed by officer’s and chairman’s reports.
The 60th anniversary of the Yazoo Chapter NSDAR, which will be in January of 2013, was discussed.
Sarastelle Sigrest, Yazoo Chapter Chaplin, gave an informative program on one of the schools NSDAR supports, Hindman Settlement House. Located near Hindman, Kent., this school was established by two women in 1910. It serves children with dyslexia and autism and also helps to preserve the literary and cultural heritage of southeastern Kentucky and Central Appalachian.
After the program, boxes were packed to send to a local member of the armed services who is in Afghanistan and to women in the military.
The hostesses were Montine Bond and Marie Cato.
The November meeting will be held at First Presbyterian Church, preceded by the laying of the wreath at the War Memorial at the Yazoo County Courthouse. The hostesses will be Marsha Williams, Snooky Hogue and Pro Metts.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Marek of Irving, Texas are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Addison Brooklynn Marek on May 30, 2012 at Women’s Hospital in Flowood.
Addison weighed five pounds, ten ounces.
Mrs. Marek is the former Shelly Branch of Yazoo City.
Maternal grandparents are Jo George of Yazoo City and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Branch of Jackson.
Paternal grandparents are the late Bob Marek of Irving, Texas and Brenda Fulmer of Irving, Texas.
Also welcoming the new arrival are big brother Harper Guthrie and sisters Lawrell Guthrie, Kati Marek and Taylor Marek.
